In Saturday’s 4-1 loss to No. 12 Ball State, Hunt had season highs with nine kills and nine digs. • Getting his first action since mid-March, senior outside hitter Robbie Brannick had a career-high 11 digs in Saturday’s 3-1 Senior Night loss to the Cardinals. It was just his second double-figure digs night of his career. • Ben Ponnet had 28 kills against Ball State Saturday and had a season-best .523 hitting percentage. He had just five errors in 44 swings. It marked the second most accurate hitting night of his four-year career and best for a 30-plus attempt contest. In 2012, he hit .560 in a Feb. 19 win over Quincy, with 15 kills in 25 attempts with one error. IPFW MASTODONS 18-6 OVERALL // 7-5 MIVA THIS WEEK: 4/11/2014 vs. Quincy // 4/12/2014 vs. Lindenwood LAST WEEK: W, 3-2 at Ohio State MASTODONS NOTES: • IPFW remains in the top-15 at No. 14 overall. • All six of the team’s losses this season have come to an opponent that is currently ranked in the top-15. • IPFW swept the season series with Ohio State for just the second time since 1997. • The Mastodons are two wins away from their 11th 20-win season in program history, and first since 2007. • The Mastodons will host their first MIVA Tournament game since 2007.

THIS WEEK: 4/11-12/2014 vs. Grand CanyonLAST WEEK: W, 3-0 vs. Quincy // W, 3-1 vs. Lindenwood
FLYERS NOTES:• The Flyers expanded their winning streak to four in a row as they swept Quincy (April 4) and defeated Lindenwood in four (April 5) to take the season series over both teams.• Lewis won both matches in 2013 in Phoenix, Ariz., collecting a 3-1 victory on Feb. 2 and a 3-2 win on Feb. 3. Eric Fitterer tallied 32 kills on the weekend to earn MIVA offensive accolades for the week. • Lewis moved up to second in the MIVA and third in the nation with a .331 hitting percentage (1,161 K, 385 E, 2,343 TA). The Flyers are also second in the conference and seventh nationally with a 2.80 blocks-per-set average (53 solo, 415 BA).• Lewis has been in the AVCA National Rankings for 62-straight weeks, dating back to Jan. 2011.
LINDENWOOD LIONS19-9 OVERALL // 4-8 MIVA
THIS WEEK: 4/11/2014 at Ball State // 4/12/2014 at IPFWLAST WEEK: W, 3-0 at Loyola-Chicago // L, 3-1 at LewisLIONS NOTES:• Lindenwood ends its regular season with road matches at Ball State and IPFW.• The Lions fell to both of those teams earlier in the season at Hyland Arena. They lost 3-0 to IPFW and 3-1 to Ball State.• Last week, Lindenwood was swept by #1 Loyola Chicago and fell 3-1 to #11 Lewis.• Lindenwood will be the sixth-seed in the upcoming MIVA Tournament.
LOYOLA-CHICAGO RAMBLERS23-1 OVERALL // 13-0 MIVA
THIS WEEK: 4/11/2014 at Ohio StateLAST WEEK: W, 3-0 vs. Lindenwood // W, 3-0 vs. QuincyRAMBLERS NOTES:• Loyola ran its winning streak to 21 with home wins over Lindenwood and Quincy last week• LU’s 21-game run equals the longest streak in school history, set from Jan. 25-April 8, 2005• Loyola looks for its 22nd straight win on Friday at Ohio State and will be looking to snap another streak in the process. The Ramblers have dropped 10 straight matches at Ohio State and have not won in Columbus since 2006• The win over Lindenwood also gave the Ramblers their first outright, regular-season MIVA championship since 2006• Loyola’s sweeps of Lindenwood and Quincy reinforced an interesting stat as LU has now won 70 of 83 total sets (.843) played this season. The Ramblers have dropped just eight sets during their current winning streak and have not scored less than 20 points in any set since the final set of their only loss, way back on Jan. 4 vs USC

THIS WEEK: 4/11/2014 vs. Loyola-ChicagoLAST WEEK: L, 3-2 vs. IPFW // W, 3-1 at George MasonBUCKEYES NOTES:• The Ohio State men’s volleyball team capped the weekend with a 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23) win at George Mason Sunday afternoon.• Redshirt junior Andrew Lutz finished with a match-high 19 kills, while redshirt freshman Driss Guessous totaled 15 kills with four blocks (1s, 3a). Freshman Christy Blough had 48 assists and a career-best six blocks (2s, 4a). Libero Michael Piechowski tied a season-best with 13 digs and Dustan Neary finished with eight kills and five blocks (1s, 4a).• The Buckeyes close out the regular season at home, hosting No. 1 Loyola in St. John Arena, April 11.
QUINCY HAWKS13-16 OVERALL // 0-12 MIVA
THIS WEEK: 4/11/2014 at IPFW // 4/12/2014 at Ball StateLAST WEEK: L, 3-0 at Lewis // L, 3-0 at Loyola-Chicago HAWKS NOTES:• The Hawks dropped a pair of road conference matches last weekend, falling to No. 11 Lewis on Friday before a defeat to No. 1 Loyola on Saturday.• Sophomore Jack Gamache led the Hawks with 18 kills (3.00 per set), a .300 hitting percentage and nine digs last week. He ranks second on the team with 291 kills on the season.• The St. Charles, Mo. native is also just one service ace shy of tying the school record (44) for a single season, set by Steve Drexler in 1997. • Senior Brian Peth ranks third in the MIVA in digs and digs per set (214, 2.28). • The Hawks finish the regular season this week with matches against nationally-ranked IPFW and Ball State.

Middle blocker Dustan Neary had a great weekend defen-sively for the Buckeyes, finishing with 12 blocks over nine played for a 1.33 average. He also finished with 16 kills and picked up back-to-back matches with double-digit points. Highlighting his weekend was his performance against IPFW Friday night. The junior tied a career-high in the match with seven total blocks, finishing with 1 solo and 6 assists. He added eight kills and two digs for the Buckeyes along with a .727 attack percentage. In the team’s four-set win at George Mason Sunday, Neary to-taled five blocks against the Patriots and chipped in eight kills and two more digs.

Loyola-Chicago Picked as 2014 MIVA Preseason Favorite
Loyola-Chicago earns three selections on the MIVA Preseason All-Conference Team
SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Loyola-Chicago has been selected the preseason favorite to win the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association by a vote of the league coaches. With seven first place votes, Loyola-Chicago finished five points ahead of Lewis and 15 points ahead of Ohio State. Grand Canyon was picked to finished fourth in the conference while Ball State and IPFW were picked to finish fifth. Lindenwood and Quincy rounded out the field by finishing in seventh and eighth place.
The coaches also selected the 2014 MIVA Preseason All-Conference Team. The team is compiled of nine players and one libero. Loyola-Chicago led the way with three selections on the All-MIVA Preseason Team while Lewis had two members picked by the panel of coaches. Ball State, IPFW, Grand Canyon, Lindenwood, and Ohio State each had one on the team. Loyola-Chicago’s Joseph Smalzer, 2013 MIVA Player of the Year and 2013 MIVA Tournament MVP, edged out Lewis’ BJ Boldog for Preseason Player of the Year honors and Peter Jasaitis earned Preseason Libero of the Year honors after receiving six, first place votes. Sophomore Thomas Jaeschke rounded out Loyola-Chicago’s selection, earning a spot on the All-Conference Team.
Along with Boldog, outside hitter Geoff Powell rounded out the Lewis selections while Ben Ponnet from Grand Canyon, Matt Leske from Ball State, Eddie Rivera from IPFW, Michael Henchy from Ohio State, and Colin Hackworth from Lindenwood earned a spot on the team.

*Lewis earned the No. 1 seed in the MIVA Tournament. Loyola-Chicago was the No. 2 seed ^Ball State earned the No. 3 seed in the MIVA Tournament. Lindenwood was ineligible for post-season in 2013 due to provisional status after making the transition to Division II.
