Objective of the Assignment and Learning Targets
The purpose of this assignment is to create a detailed poster and
presentation about a famous scientist. Your work (along with those of
your lab partners) will be used in science class throughout the
2015-2016 school year.
Learning Targets:
• I can relate the impact of research on scientific thought and
society.
• I can relate the history of science to the content of middle school
science.
1
• I can relate the contributions of scientists to the content of middle
school science.
• I can use appropriate tools to collect, record, and analyze
information.
• I can present information in a meaningful manner.
Your project will be due to Mr. Davis October 6, 2015.
Procedures:
1. You will be assigned a scientist of your lab group’s choice before
September 25, 2015. This is the scientist you must use.
2. A report on a wrong scientist will not be accepted.
3. Read the requirements of the project.
4. Look at the rubric.
5. Start your research. Fill out resource forms as you do. You will
need to use 3 resources. You will be completing and turning in the
reference page, so be sure to save all the needed information.
6. The work must be entirely your own. Do not copy word-for-word from
sources. Reword information to your own wording.
2
There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact. ~Mark Twain, Life on the Mississippi, 1883
7. Use the poster paper that Mr. Davis supplies to your group.
8. Before you declare your lab group’s project complete, check your
work thoroughly using the rubric.
