Dear families,
I trust there were good memories created from Mother’s Day on the weekend.
And we look forward to our Primary Grandparents Day tomorrow. These days
are very special every year, as we pause to recognise and honour the
significant people who have invested so much of themselves into our lives.
It was a wonderful turnout on Saturday to see so many families represented at
our afternoon working bee. We got a lot done, and it looks amazing.
I want to give special mention to John Knibbs who always prepares so well for
the jobs that need doing. I also want to acknowledge last year’s Art students
who painted the wonderful “Days of Creation” message poles that were set up.
They are stunningly colourful, and add a vibrant beauty to the new garden
area.
Particular thanks must go to Jodie Trimble, who has been such a visionary and
driver in all the stages of the garden project. It looks amazing now, and would
not have come together so well if it wasn’t for her.
This week we have had another visit with Tim and Sandy from Endeavour
Consulting, our community relations and image consultants. They are preparing
a report for the Board, which together with the other reports in process will
develop some strong, purposeful directions to complement the existing change
plans.
Recently I have given some thought and time to how we work through
behaviour issues, and more recently how we listen to and respond to grievances
(complaints). Both of these need wisdom and care, and both need more clarity

about the fair and supportive ways we seek to manage the sometimes delicate and emotive range of
perspectives.
In each of these we can often feel we don’t want to be any trouble raising the issue. However, that makes it
difficult to understand and resolve the issues. We don’t like rocking the boat, but we can’t sort it out unless we
have good evidences.
I came across this text in my research:
“Be fair, no matter who is on trial — don’t favour either the poor or the rich.
Don’t be a gossip, but never hesitate to speak up in court, especially if your testimony can save someone’s
life.” (Leviticus 19:15–16 CEV)
It reminds us to be fair and impartial. I particularly like the sense of balance in v16 – don’t gossip, but speak up
when it’s important.
We need evidence to understand what is taking place. We need to understand all sides, and be fair.
Let us make sure we are working together for positive improvement.
DELAYS IN FEES STATEMENTS
Due to an extraordinarily busy term break which was shortened by a number of public holidays therein, there has been a
consequent delay in producing family statements. Normally family accounts are updated and statements distributed
during the term break. This assists families to prepare for payment of the next term’s component of fees by the end of
Week 2. Statements have only been posted this week to families and should be received in mail boxes soon. Due to the
delay, the College has extended the due date for the Term 2 component of fees to end of Week 4 (Friday, 26 th May). This
only applies to families who are paying on a termly basis; it does not affect those on payment plans who pay on a
weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
PRAYER FOR MNCC
Prayer is held each Monday at 9am in the Library. All Parents and Caregivers are welcome. For
more information contact Mel Jaeger on 0478 616 475.
COLLEGE AGM
The 2017 MNCC Association AGM will be held on Thursday 25th May, 7.30pm. If you would like more
information regarding the MNCC Association please contact Mrs Robyn Nieass at the College.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
Just a reminder that winter uniform is to be worn during Term 2 and 3. There is a three week changeover period at either
end, where summer uniforms may be worn according to the weather; this will conclude at the end of this week (Week 3).
In unusual forecast events, we will advise of any change to policy. Please make sure sport uniforms are only worn on PE
days. Students are not permitted to wear a PE top as a substitute for jumper.
Students who have soccer training after school MAY wear PE uniforms on that day.
BREAKFAST CLUB
Breakfast runs from 8.00am to 8.35am on Wednesdays in the Home Economics area. Warm toast is available and a
variety of cereals as well as hot milo.
JUNIOR DISCO
The SRC will be holding a Glow in the Dark Junior Disco this Friday 19th May from 6.00pm - 8.00pm in room 9/10. It is
recommended that students eat dinner before attending but supper will be provided. $5 for entry cost.
FRIDAY 9TH JUNE (WEEK 6)
All Education Department schools in Port Pirie will have a student free day on Friday 9th June. Mid North Christian College
will be open as usual. All DECD buses (yellow) will not run on this day. Town buses and the Hanley’s bus service will run as
normal both morning and afternoon. If your child accesses any Yellow bus you will need to make alternative
arrangements for your child to attend MNCC on this day. Thank you for your support.

Dance Success
The grounds at Mid North Christian
College are an evidence of the
wonderful work that our College
parents and caregivers contribute to
through our regular Working Bees each
year.
MNCC grounds are kept looking
immaculate by our wonderful grounds-
man Mr John Knibbs, assisted by Mr
Gerald Whitefoot.
Our supportive parents and families can
be proud of their input.
Last Saturday’s Working Bee was well
attended with volunteers cleaning
various areas around the College
grounds, planting shrubs and foliage
and cleaning windows ready for our
Open Day.
Preparatory work had been carried out
on the area near the basketball courts
and landscaping work, including the
laying of a lawn strip has been done.
Special thanks to Mrs Jodie Trimble who
does a great job and has forwarded
some photos to us of areas in the
College grounds before they were
landscaped. Take a look at the
incredible difference to these areas in
the “before and after” photos (left).
Thank you to all who volunteer their
time at the College.
