MFCS MICTRONICS FAN COIL SYSTEM - Making Your Central Air-Conditioning Greener and Smarter
The system is made up of Electronically Commutated, High Voltage, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Brushless DC motor (“PMS BLDC motor”) and a Patented Control Unit which provides 400VDC, a controlled PWM signal and 15 VDC to the motor driver which is attached to the bottom of the motor.

Figure 2 Theory of DC Motor
Figure 3 Structure of a BLDC Motor
As the name tells, the concept was originated from DC motors, as shown in Figure 2. The two pieces of permanent magnet at the stator produces a stationery magnetic field. Current flows through the coil via brushes and commutators from a variable DC supply. Because of the existence of such current and the magnetic field, a torque is produced. As the coil rotates by 180o, the current flow along coil is changed by the commutators, thus sustaining the rotational torque.
The BLDC motor, as shown in Figure 3, operates under a more or less similar principle. The BLDC motor has a rotor that is a permanent magnet, the magnetic field of which interacts with the rotating magnetic field produced by the stator windings. This is combined with an electronic commutation system that is made up of an electronic controller plus an inverter. This powers the stator by generating a magnetic field, the rotation speed of which is adjusted in accordance with the gap between the actual temperature and the set point temperature, thus the rotor speed is perfectly synchronised with the demand. mFCS BLDC is coupled with 3 Hall Sensors for efficient variable speed adjustment - the result is a step-less modulation of fan speed, which makes it possible to accurately regulate air flow in strict relation to the requirement in terms of cooling capacity.
For the past 30 years, forward-bladed centrifugal fans in fan coil-units have been driven by AC motors which are having typically around 45% to 50% efficient. However, the efficiency of BLDC motors is over 75%, lead ing to s ign ificant operational benefits. The BLDC motor , with variable speed control, can maintain high energy efficiency even at low speed, say 30% of rated value, and at the same time, higher efficiency leading to less heat produced by the motor which will reduce
the cooling load to the MVAC system, thus in turn leading to a higher capacity of the cooling environment. Less heat generated by the motor itself can further increase energy saving. And lower operating temperature could increase motor life, and longer bearing life.

3. High Power FactormFCS works at high power factor , hence it enhances power quality, reduces power loss, increases system capacity and saves energy.
mFCS Motor heat dissipation is reduced
by 95% and 58% at low and highspeed respectively compared with AC motor. The heat generated will increase the cooling load of HVAC system, leading to waste of energy.
2 . Substantial Reduction in Operating Temperature
Test Specimen: FCU 600cfmNotes: 1. The FCUs are tested at 0 Pa Static Pressure.
2. Saving Performance may be changed subject to the configuration ofmotor and blower.

mFCS eliminates the source of power loss and achieves a high energy efficient operation. By eliminating mechanical brushes, permanent magnet motor can also minimize the noise level and waste heat generation, thus improves motor lifespan.

5. Higher Acoustic Comfort Level Compared with fixed speed AC motor based FCUs, the continuous modulation of fan rotation speed can result in a reduction of average sound level, thus a higher acoustic comfort level, in particular during night-time operation.
4. Higher Room Comfort Level The BLDC motors make possible variable speed control by resulting in instantaneous adjustment of air flow based on thermal load changing, achieving a more precise control of room temperature and humidity, thus a high comfort level.
Intelligent Thermostat control can regulate the fan speed automatically according to the room temperature changes or customized temperature set point. The temperature control accuracy is up to ±0.5oC.

BERIS BLDCSMUL Feb 2016
BLDCSMUL CONTROL BOX The BLDCSMUL is a BLDC Motor Controller. It is one of the member of the BERIS Energy Saving series. The products had already been certified by the standard IP21 and CE (EMC, & LVD). This controller can couple with a 120W BLDC motor to save energy up to around 80% at low motor speed. The motor speed can be controlled either by the common found mechanical or digital three speeds thermostat, or 0~10V Step Less Control Thermostat. There are three small potentiometers to fine tune the motor speeds at High, Mid and Low setting. BERIS BLDC motor shall couple with our BLDC motor and form a set of retrofit kit.
