•Microsoft wants to put Windows Vista’s reputation behind them.▫They want faster system▫Less costlier hardware▫Less memory

The Highlights•Microsoft says regular PC users can test a

beta version of Windows 7 early next year•The operating system will let users avoid

alerts and warnings from their computers•Rampant security alerts and pop-up windows

irked many users of Windows Vista▫Users can set fewer alerts

•Windows 7 is set to go on sale in early 2010• Its visually similar to Windows Vista

•Focus on “Application and Device compatibility

•Security will be better and not overburdening

•“Jumplists” ▫a quick way of organizing recently used

files or popular program features

•When users roll over a program's icon in the task bar, it will be easier to see how many documents are open, and switch between them

•Make Word, Excel and other key elements of Office -- its flagship "productivity" programs -- able to run in a Web browser▫The applications won’t have to be installed

on the PCs▫More polished that the Google version
