Microcontroller Based Smart Home EE411 (Senior Project Design – 132) Introduction Smart home is an automated home that can be controlled remotely and automatically to insure the home's safety and security, reduce energy consumption and make the residences lives to be easier and more comfortable . Security & Safety One of the significant goals for smart homes technology is to rise the security & safety level of the house residents, so it has been improved rapidly as the smart homes technology advanced. The smart home's security & safety can be provided by many applications that ensure the house's security & safety and give the resident many options to watch over his house wherever he is located. Objectives • To be able to control electrical switches. • To provide the user with the conditions of his home by detecting temperature and motion. • To save the consumption of energy. • To ensure home safety and security. • To control the smart home system using different techniques. Components Used • Arduino Mega 2560 • PC with LabVIEW • GSM Shield • Sensors and Relays • LCD • Keypad • Remote Control. Electrical Switches The main purpose of this application is to be able to control any electrical device remotely from anywhere in the world. This application can be helpful to reduce the consumption of power. Our target is to make a simple and secure technique for the home's owner to control his house. To illustrate this, the owner can control his AC and lamps by a text message, using LabVIEW software or remote control. Future Development Our design can be upgraded easily since the basics are built. It can be provided by more sensors (dust, humidity, smoke …) that can improve the system by giving the user more safety, security and innovation.
