Michigan - FY2018 AmeriCorps State and National Grant Awards Corporation for National and Community Service As a result of the FY2018 AmeriCorps State and National Grant Competition, Michigan will receive a total of $10,452,606 in funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps and other national service programs. Through this competition, nine successful grantees operating in Michigan will receive $4,497,316 in competitive funding from CNCS to support approximately 506 AmeriCorps members. After successfully completing their service, these AmeriCorps members are expected to earn $2,065,689 in Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards, a post-service benefit that can be used to cover the costs of post-secondary education or help pay back qualified student loans. The Michigan Community Service Commission, the Governor-appointed state service commission, will also receive $3,889,601 in non-competitive formula funding, which will in turn be awarded to Michigan organizations to support additional AmeriCorps members in the coming months. The $10.5 million investment from CNCS will leverage an additional $7,917,146 in matching funds – further increasing the return on the federal investment.
