Case Study 2: Nebraska Public Power District

Cooper Nuclear Generating Station MHF provided all technical services, packaging, transportation,

and disposition for two LP Rotors, each weighing 230,000 pounds, and miscellaneous wastes

Due to an unanticipated increase in the component weights, MHF immediately modified the conveyance methodology without affecting critical path schedule

MHF provided technical services and transportation at Davis-Besse Nuclear Generation Station of the only Reactor Vessel Head to ship via rail to disposal. The final package weighed 125 tons and was 17 feet in diameter.

Upper Hudson River Sediment Remediation MHF is currently under contract with GE to provide the following services:

− Preparing remedial action work plan submittals

− Providing a fleet of 450 railcars to support the project

− Inspection and switching of loaded and empty railcars

− Testing and inspection of unit trains prior to departure from the short-line railroad

− Inspection, maintenance, and repair of the rail yard and rail yard loading area

− Running and heavy repairs on railcars

− Inspection and maintenance of a weigh-in-motion scale

− Managing the off-site round-trip logistics of unit trains between the site and the waste disposal facility

Case Study 2: Horseshoe Road

Superfund Site MHF transported 181,600 tons of Subtitle D

non-hazardous, TSCA, TSCA/RCRA, and RCRA (thermal) wastes from the Horseshoe Road Superfund Site in Sayreville, NJ to four separate facilities via our private gondola railcars equipped with liners. MHF coordinated the rail logistics of an average of 900 tons of material per day from the origin to disposal outlets.

MHF provided an on-site Transportation and Disposal Coordinator to review waste manifests and waybills; coordinate with Class I railroad to ensure daily switching of railcars; oversee installation of railcar liners; attend daily site briefings; and provide client support.

Case Study 3: Heritage Environmental Services

Private Generator; Paulsboro, NJ Under contract to Heritage Environmental Services, MHF provides

a private fleet of gondola railcars, truck-to-rail transloading operations, and rail transportation for an estimated 40,000 tons of PCB-contaminated soils/sediments from the site of a private generator in Paulsboro, NJto Heritage’s facility in Indianapolis, IN.

Transloading Facilities MHF designed, constructed, and operates copper concentrate and

propane transloading facilities for Newmont Mining Corporation. MHF provides the rail logistics and railcar tracking for the concentrate shipments.

The concentrate transloading facility is believed to be the first of its kind and accommodates the loading of two 52-foot, 109-ton gondola cars simultaneously.

EAF Dust and Fly Ash MHF provides rail transportation of electric arc furnace (EAF)

dust using MHF-supplied covered hopper cars from ArcelorMittal’s Vinton, TX facility to Monterrey, Mexico

MHF was awarded a three-year contract to assume a fleet of pressure differential hopper cars to transport fly ash from Cogentrix’s Indiantown and Cedar Bay stations to Mauk, GA

Equipment Leasing MHF has a long-standing contract to lease private, dedicated

tank cars to Systech Environmental Corporation, the leading provider of waste co-processing services in North America

MHF also arranges the rail transportation of tank cars loaded with hazardous or non-hazardous liquids for certain transportation lanes
