Recipe courtesy of www.thekitchn.com Building a home is all about the before and after. During the “before” peri- od, a vision is created, planned out, and is tirelessly sought after until the entire transformation is complete. At Musser Home Builders, we are fortu- nate to perform these transformations throughout the year and are inspired each time we get to see a before and after shot. One of our recent projects was a gorgeous Craftsman-style home for a beau- tiful family of six in Camp Hill. While they rented a house across town, we planned, designed and renovated their dream house. Jeff was the visionary on the entire design. We were able to complete this house in just under five months of construc- tion during one of the coldest February’s in PA history! There’s no doubt this client took a ‘leap of faith’. This was real life HGTV! The transformation involved a full remodel both inside and out, almost doubling the original size. It included: • Updating the old heating and cooling units • A new, shingled and standing seam metal roof • Fiber Cement Siding • Adding a 9’ deep front porch • Knotty pine stained barrel porch ceiling • New and updated kitchen and sunroom • Addition of a Family Room and Master Bedroom suite We are beyond thrilled to have worked on this beautiful Craftsman home! 1. be prepared Getting spring beds ready goes back to fall. Chop up fall leaves and add 3-6 inches to the top of your beds. By Spring, mix them into the soil as a natural compost. Benefits to having your own garden Knowing exactly where your food is coming from (non-GMO) • Gardening is affordable (cost of seeds and manure is minimal and plants produce fresh pro- duce for all families) • Learning a self-reliance skill is very rewarding still not feelin’ it? If gardening isn’t your thing but you still love fresh produce, visit local farmers markets. Sign up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), where you can get a box of assorted, fresh, locally grown pro- duce. Container gardening is continuing to gain popularity, allowing home gardeners to grow herbs and compact veggies in small places! 3. be patient While warming temps make you anx- ious, don’t plant too early. Waiting for the last frost will definitely pay off. before after
