Welcome to session 2020-21!
As you are aware that we are sailing through troubled waters at
the moment and the entire world is facing a severe crisis which no
doubt will end soon with our patience, positivity and
perseverance.
Following is the first round of English assignments which needs
to be submitted/completed by 10th of April 2020.
The tasks to be done in notebook can be done in any old notebook
or your English notebook or a bunch of pages stapled together and
will be submitted and marked as English activity or portfolio work
when the school reopens.

· Create a dictionary. Write 20 new words from
newspaper/messages of past 10 days in your notebook.
· Find the meanings of the words, use them in sentences and
write these in your notebook.
· Interview about 3 people at home or on phone about the
Pandemic, their views and concerns about this global crisis and
write a report on it in your notebook and email the same to your
subject teacher.
· Learn to cook a new dish from your mother /Youtube and Email
the recipe with a picture of it to your subject teacher.
Other Tasks
· Download Extramarks app and do grammar exercises based on Past
and Future Tenses there in your notebook.
· Write a page in Cursive writing everyday in your notebook to
improve your handwriting.

· The nature which surrounds a living organism is called
environment. It is a combination of natural and human made
phenomena.
Natural environment

· Comprises of land, water, air, plants and animals.
· Domains of the environment:
1. Lithosphere-
· Solid crust or the hard top layer of the earth.
· Made up of rocks and minerals covered by a thin layer of
soil.
· Irregular surface with various landforms such as mountains,
plateaus, plains, valleys etc.
· Provides us with forests, grasslands for grazing, land for
agriculture and human settlements. It is a source of mineral
wealth.
2. Hydrosphere-
· Known as the domain of water.
· Comprises of water bodies like rivers, lakes, oceans, seas
etc.
· Essential for all living organisms.
3. Atmosphere-
· Thin layer of air that surround the earth.
· Protects us from the harmful rays and scorching heat of the
sun.
· Consists of a number of gases, dust and water vapor.
4. Biosphere-
· Plant and animal kingdom together make the Biosphere.
· Narrow zone of the earth where land, water and air interact
with each other to support life.
· Ecosystem is formed in the relation between living organisms
as well as the relation between the organisms and their
surroundings. For example, a large rainforest, grassland, desert,
mountains etc.

· Biodiversity-
· One of the most important aspect of our environment.
· Variety of life forms including terrestrial, marine, aerial
and undersurface.
· Controls the ecological balance.
· Conservation-
· Protection of the plants and animals, natural areas specially
from the damaging effects of human activity.
