Who is MGC?
Multicultural Greek Council
The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is the umbrella organization to the ten recognized historically Multicultural and Latino fraternities and sororities at UNT. Though membership in this council is not restricted to students of Multicultural heritage, MGC serves as a multifaceted organization whose purposes include representing Multicultural interest to the University and community, promotion of the concept of self-governance among fraternities and sororities, unification of the Multicultural Greek groups, sponsoring large scale community service projects, and planning various activities throughout the year with the other Greek umbrella organizations. Membership in an MGC organization is a life-long commitment. Members of MGC organizations remain active as alumni members and participate in many events nationwide. The average size of an MGC chapter is 11 members, so you can ensure you will develop close bonds with your fellow members.
Recruitment
The Multicultural Greek Council sponsors an MGC Week each fall and spring. This week is full of events that will allow students the opportunity to come and learn specific information about each of the chapters represented in the council. Students are encouraged to ask questions and utilize this week to get acquainted with current members of the organizations. Representatives from each of the MGC organizations will be on hand to provide information to anyone interested. Every chapter in our council has something different to offer, so we recommend that you check out all MGC chapters to find the one that best suits you.

Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. Alpha Tau Chapter
In 1975, there were no Latino fraternities in existence in the United States. The Greek-letter organizations of the time primarily catered to Anglo and African- American students and graduates.
Lambda's founders, as men of vision, realized there was a need to unite the Latino students and develop their leadership skills, impart upon them the value of an education, and instill in them a commitment to their community and culture. The traditional student club would not suffice to
accomplish such lofty goals. Hence, Latino unity and brotherhood would be achieved through a long recognized institution - the fraternity. This newest addition to the Greek system would be the first in
the nation by identity and by name.
