MUMBAI“THE CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS”• ENTERTAINMENT• Mumbai, the commercial capital is home to the world’s

largest film - producing industry i.e Bollywood, which serves as the biggest entertainment source here in the form of film cities and celebrity residences. The city houses famous places like The Gateway Of India, The Taj Hotel and the CST Terminus. It has India’s largest Theme Park Essel World. Apart from this, there is Juhu Beach which has a large variety of eatables including the famous Bombay sandwiches, Bhel and Pav Bhaji.There are no less shopping centres like inorbit, atria and crossroads mall.

• Education Facilities• Mumbai the economic capital of India is also well known for education as

much as it is for its Bollywood fame. Research centers that are renowned nationwide and abroad for its scientists are TIFR and BARC. One of the ten top colleges of India is also located in Mumbai viz. St. Xavier's College. Moreover the first Veterinary College was founded in Mumbai. A great number of Mumbai's colleges are almost Mumbai-university affiliated, one of the largest in the world. In all there are eleven other universities. 1191 Government schools are run by the Municipal Corporation. The medium of instruction is mostly, Marathi. A few other languages of instruction are also offered. More and more of such schools also cater to education in slums. The Archdiocese of Mumbai runs 150 schools catering to every economic class. The CBSE and ICSE schools in the city total 36 and 58 schools respectively. Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools in Mumbai have reached 3075.

• POWER GENERATION• There are notably 25 power stations located in the state of

Maharashtra with majority of them in Mumbai. The electricity producing and distributing organizations total to 11 including private and government ones. The Tata Thermal Power Station located in Trombay near Mumbai has an installed capacity of producing 1580 MW. It houses generating units based on coal, gas and oil.Mumbai rarely has power cuts. It is not always that the city has enough generation capacity, they buy electricity at a higher price during the peak demand period. The electricity is bought either from other states or private power plants. The result is that the cost of electricity is high. But the electricity is reliable and is available 24 hours.

• The hospitals of Mumbai provide routine health services and specialised cures of each . These private hospitals have excellent amenities for patients, with television, Wi-Fi and telephone in the rooms as well as food courts, gyms, business centres and ATMs for patients and visitors. The air-conditioned metro provides a capacity of 1500 passengers and a black box to record all vital information (similar to that of an aeroplane).

• ENTERTAINMENT• The capital too has innumerable sources of entertainment

including shopping centres like Metro Walk, DLF Cyber Hub and Pacific. National Monuments like The India Gate, The Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun Tomb etc... Amusement and Theme Parks like Worlds of Wonders, Adventure Island are also present. There are around 60 cinemas in the city, 20 of which are multiplexes and have around 120 screens for residents to choose from. Delhi is also famous for its food markets including the famous street Paranthe Wali Gali in Chandni Chowk and Dilli Haat.

• Education• Delhi has to its credit some of the premier institutions in India like the

Indian Institute of Technology, National Institute of Technology Delhi , the School of Planning and Architecture, the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, the Delhi Technological University, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University and the National Institute of Fashion Technology. The Indira Gandhi Open University is the World’s Largest National University. As per the survey conducted in 2001, Delhi had around 2416 primary, 715 middle and 1576 secondary schools. In 2004–05, approximately 1.5 million students were enrolled in primary schools, 822,000 in middle schools and 669,000 in secondary schools across Delhi. Female students represented 49% of the total enrolment. As per the 2011 census, Delhi has a literacy rate of 86.3% with 91.0% of males and 80.9% of females.

• POWER GENERATION• Delhi houses 5 power stations and 6 organizations for the

electricity generation sector. Indraprastha Power Generation Co. Limited, one of the power generating organization, has a capacity of 405 MW comprising 135 MW from Coal based Thermal and 270.0 MW from Gas based Thermal power plant. The Rajghat Power Station is a Coal-based thermal power plant of 135 MW installed capacity. Pragati I and Pragati III Power stations have a capacity of 330 MW and 1500 MW respectively.

2.4 million passengers, and, as of August 2010, had already carried over 1.25 billion passengers since its inception. Delhi Metro is the world's 12th largest metro system in terms of both length and number of stations. For healthcare, there are superspeciality hospitals which serve people all across the country for major surgeries.

• ENTERTAINMENT• Kolkata has many entertaining things to offer to everyone

coming there. One can see fountains dancing to the musical beats at the historical Victoria Memorial Garden or visit the Science City. Nicco park, popularly known as the Disneyland of Kolkata, offers much pleasure to the guests. One can boat in the salt water lake or have a look at India’s Largest, the Prayag Film city. Readers can peacefully read in the National Library or the American Library. The Indian Museum is a great place for anyone wanting to learn about history.

• POWER GENERATION• The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation or CESC is

the Kolkata-based flagship company of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, born from the erstwhile RPG Group, under the chairmanship of businessman Sanjiv Goenka. It is an Indian electricity generation and the sole distribution company serving 567 square kilometres (219 sq mi) of area administered by the Kolkata municipal corporation. Other than this major electricity production corporation, there are several thermal bhased power plants aound the city.

• TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS• The health care system in Kolkata consists of

48 government hospitals, mostly under the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, and 366 private medical establishments during 2010. The health scenario in Kolkata is better than many other cities in India . The Kolkata Metro startd in 1984 as India’s first Metro System and was a major technological advancement for the city as well as the country.

• EDUCATION• Kolkatais one of the most preferred destinations for acquiring quality education in

India. Education in Kolkata was imparted to students initially in Sanskrit and the vernacular language - Bangla. The British rule paved the way for modernized education system, in English medium. Today, English is the predominant medium of instruction in Kolkata.. The city is home to some of the old and renowned educational institutions of India, including IIM Calcutta (IIM-C), Calcutta Medical College, West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), Jadavpur University and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). DPS Kolkata, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Apeejay School and Vivekananda Academy are among the top CBSE schools in Kolkata. The renowned schools affiliated to ICSE are Calcutta Public School, Shatavisha Public School, Don Bosco School, St. Francis Xavier School, M P Birla Foundation School. Among the top schools affiliated to WBBSE are Hindu School, South Point High School, Julien Day School, Howrah ST. John's High School and St. John's Diocesan School.

• Entertainment• With its historic landmarks and buildings, long sandy beaches, cultural and

art centers and parks, Chennai's tourism offers many interesting locations to visitors. One of the most important tourist attraction of Chennai is actually in the neighbouring town of Mahabalipuram with its ancient temples and rock carvings of the 7th century Pallava kingdom. Chennai is listed in the Lonely planet's top 10 city to travel for the year 2015. It houses the World’s longest city beach, The Marina. It is the base for the Tamil film industry, known as Kollywood. Chennai hosts major film studios, including AVM Productions, the oldest surviving studio in India. As of 2012, there are 120 cinema screens and multiplexes. Chennai's expensive theatre network stages many Tamil plays of many genres. There are many landmarks in the city such as Anna Memorial, Santhome Church and Arignar Anna Zoological Park. There are more than 20 shopping centres in the city.

• EDUCATION• Chennai is home to many educational and research institutions. IIT Madras is

ranked among the top centres of engineering education in India. College of Engineering, Guindy is the only state owned college to be ranked in the top 10 engineering colleges in India, along with the IITs and NITs. Madras Institute of Technology is another institutions for engineering studies, which is also part of Anna University along with College of Engineering, Guindy. Medical colleges such as the Madras Medical College and Stanley Medical College are located in the city. The arts and science colleges in the city include Loyola College, Stella Maris College, Women's Christian College,  Madras Christian College andPresidency College.GPrivate schools are usually affiliated to the Tamil Nadu State Board or the Tamil Nadu Matriculation board. A few schools are affiliated to the national CBSE board, ICSE board, NIOS board, Anglo-Indian board and the Montessori system. A few schools also offer the International Baccalaureate and the American systems.

• POWER GENERATION• To satisfy the energy needs of the state, Tamil Nadu Electricity

Board has a total installed capacity of 10,214 MW which includes shares from the State government, Central government and Independent power producers. The state also has installations with renewable energy sources such as windfarms that supply up to 4,300 MW. The North Chennai Thermal Power Station is a power station situated about 25 kilometres (16 mi) from Chennai city. It is one of the major power plants of Tamil Nadu and has a total installed capacity of 1,830 MW. GMR Vasavi Diesel Power Plant, owned by GMR Power Corporation Limited, is a private-owned power plant located in Basin Bridge, Chennai. It is a 200-MW fuel power plant of the GMR Group.

• TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS• Healthcare in Chennai attracts about 45 percent of health

tourists from abroad arriving in the country and 30 to 40 percent of domestic health tourists. The city has been termed India's health capital. Multi and super-speciality hospitals across the city bring in an estimated 150 international patients every day. Factors behind the tourists' inflow in the city include low costs, little to no waiting period, and facilities offered at the speciality hospitals in the city. The metro started just around 11 months ago is growing popular in the city and getting in the citizens’ daily routine. Residents can board local trains to travel within the city.

BANGALORE: EDUCATIONAL PARADISE

• ENTERTAINMENT• The capital of Karnataka houses famous

tourist attractions like he Lal Bagh, Cubbon Park, ISKCON Temple, Banerghatta National Park and The Bangalore Palace. Children here can enjoy in amusement parks like Wonderla, Neeladri, Snow City and Flight 4 Fantasy. The Food Street in Bangalore offers delicious cuisine from every country. The government museum here is a great stop for learners.

• EDUCATION• Bangalore is home to many educational and research institutions and has played a significant

role in the contribution towards skill development. It is considered to be one of the educational hubs in India. The Bangalore University, established in 1886, provides affiliation to over 500 colleges, with a total student enrolment exceeding 300,000. Indian Institute of Science, National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) and the Raman Research Institute are the premier institutes for scientific research and study in India. Nationally renowned professional institutes such as the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (UASB), National Institute of Design (NID), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), National Law School of India University(NLSIU), the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B),the ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology (NIANP), the Indian Statistical Institute and International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) are located in Bangalore. The city is also home to the premier mental health institution in India National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS). Bangalore also has some of the best medical colleges in the country, like St. John's Medical College (SJMC) and Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI). The M. P. Birla Institute of Fundamental Research has a branch located in Bangalore.

• POWER GENERATION• Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (or KPCL) is a

company owned by the government of Karnataka, and is engaged in the Service of generating electrical power in the state of Karnataka in India. The modes for generation of electric power are hydroelectric, thermal and diesel. The total energy Production is 5990 MW. The Corporation has 22 power plats across the sate of which majurity are in and near Bangalore.

• TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS• Bangalore’s health sector is on a par with global standards with the

best medical practitioners, state-of-the-art infrastructure and technologically advanced equipment. Today, Bangalore has the credit of performing the highest number of cardiac surgeries in India with over 30% of them. And over a period of time, the city has evolved as a home for minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Namma Metro (Our Metro), also known as Bangalore Metro is India's second largest metro system in terms of both length and number of stations, after the Delhi Metro. It also contains the first underground metro line in South India. The metro network, with a total length of 31.52 kilometres, serves 30 stations. The system has a mix of underground, at-grade, and elevated stations using standard-gauge tracks. The metro has an average daily ridership of 140,000 passengers.
