Structure and purpose of Metabo abrasive media

Proven quality for the professional: Suitable for process-

ing almost all surfaces such as wood, metal, paint and

stone. Our abrasives are made from first class materials

to give first class results – be it for quick heavy stock

removal or for super fine smooth finishes or just

something in-between, Metabo has a wide range of

sanding belts, sheets and discs. They are designed to

not just fit a Metabo, but machines from other brands as

Abrasives

The sanding compoundcarries the grains and transfers the chip removal forces. Besides high strength and small expansion, the sanding compound has to render a sanding process matching flexibility

Carriers are– Highly compressed papers of various thicknesses.– Fabric based on polyester and cotton of various strengths.– Vulcanized fibre as a strong and tear-proof base is the base

material for the (Vulcan) fibre disc.

The abrasive grainis the actual cutting tool. It penetrates the material being pro-cessed and removes the surface. The abrasive grain is anchored on the grain-holding medium. Abrasive grain types are– Corundum (aluminium oxide) as a hard, slightly brittle grain for

the processing of metal, wood and lacquers of rough as well as fine ground finishes.

– Silicon carbide as a hard, sharp-edged abrasive grain for pro-cessing of lacquer, wood, ceramic, glass and rubber… for rough as well as fine ground finish.

– Aluminium zircon as a tough and fine crystalline combination of aluminium oxide and aluminium zircon for the processing of metal and non-rusting materials.

Structure and purpose of Metabo abrasive media

Proven quality for the professional: Suitable for process-

ing almost all surfaces such as wood, metal, paint and

stone. Our abrasives are made from first class materials

to give first class results – be it for quick heavy stock

removal or for super fine smooth finishes or just

something in-between, Metabo has a wide range of

sanding belts, sheets and discs. They are designed to

not just fit a Metabo, but machines from other brands as

well.

GROUND ARGUMENTS.

Abrasives

The sanding compoundcarries the grains and transfers the chip removal forces. Besides high strength and small expansion, the sanding compound has to render a sanding process matching flexibility

Carriers are– Highly compressed papers of various thicknesses.– Fabric based on polyester and cotton of various strengths.– Vulcanized fibre as a strong and tear-proof base is the base

material for the (Vulcan) fibre disc.

The abrasive grainis the actual cutting tool. It penetrates the material being pro-cessed and removes the surface. The abrasive grain is anchored on the grain-holding medium.
