THE GROUP

MEST GROUP comprisestwo shipyards and a factory producing equipment in stain-less steel for the fishing industry.

Other parts of MEST’s activities include a comprehensivespares department, a number of general agencies as wellas rental of tugboats and cranes.

In preparation for future petroleum exploration on the FaroeShelf, MEST has established a subsidiary, PAM OffshoreService. The company employes personnel with extensiveoffshore related experience as electricians, certified welders,as well as engineers .

This diversity gives MEST a headstart when meeting thedemands of its customers.

Beside the principal shipyard business of new-building, conversion and repair, MEST is engaged in a number of landbased activities.

Our diverse workforce of 250 employees are specialized in mechanics, steel, electricity, timber and paint.

Founded in 1936 the shipyard has grownover the years to become a major playerin the Faroese business community - todayunder the name MEST.

The highly skilled workforce of the technical departmentis responsible for the planning and execution of the dailywork. The department employs a wide range of specialequipment, such as tools for overhauling engines, laserrepair tools and equipment for measuring the bollard pullof ships.

Other tasks cover stability and tonnage calculations andnoise measurements.

The technical department also provides consulting servicesin connection with conversions and purchase of vesslesabroad. The department holds an extensive database of allvessels which have been serviced at MEST, providingeasy access to information regarding any previous work andequipment installed on each individual vessel.

FISH FOOD PROCESSING EQUIPMENT

At MEST Runavík we are specialized in fabrication of processingequipment for the fishing industry, including fish farming.

Our customers include fish processing plants, factory trawlers,shrimp trawlers, salmon farms and others. Our production facilitiesare modern and support the demands of even the biggest task.

Our designers have developed several production lines andancillary tools now used on board several fishing vessels andland based fish processing plants.

We provide a total solution for fish food production needs- from drawing board to finished product.

MEST has the largest spares department in the countryand also sells a wide range of paint, timber, steel andmechanical equipment. The state-of-the-art warehousefacility in Tórshavn combined with a 24 hour on call servicehave recently improved this service considerable.

We also hold a large spares department designed to cover the immediate requirements.

Daily connection between the yards and workshop ensures a reliable and swift supply of any additional demand.

MEST has time and time again demonstrated its abilityto meet new challenges by continuously adapting tochange. Between them the yards have delivered 100vessels both to the local and the international markets.Vessels have been built for customers in Denmark, theShetland Islands, Greenland and even Thailand.

The Faroe Islands have in recent years seen a decreasein ship building. Repair, conversions, maintenance andlandbased activities currently dominate the majority ofthe work. Landbased activities include the constructionof ferry berths, fish farming equipment and tanks.
