[email protected].
Prayers for Youth in Mission It’s spring break and Church Street
youth and leaders are busy serving in mission in Hurricane Irma
relief in Florida (along with volun-teers from Concord UMC and the
UT Wesley Foundation). As they install sheet rock and installation,
you can pray for them. Specific prayer needs for the Church Street
youth and leaders this week:
• Safety: in travel and work• Efficiency on work sites•
Community among the team and those we’re serving• Families that we
are helping to return home after displacement• That our team might
be good stewards of resources • That we might be the hands and feet
of Jesus
You can still give to support the efforts by your giving by
marking “Youth Mission” on your check or giving online at
www.churchstreetumc.org.
St. John’s Illustrated Bible The incredible art of the St.
John’s Illustrated Bible will be on display in the Chapel during
Holy week. Make plans to view the display to enhance your Holy Week
experience. Learn more on page three.

Big Ears FestivalChurch Street will once again serve as a venue
for the Big Ears Festival, which will be held March 22-25.
The Big Ears Festival is a dynamic, interactive experi-ence that
explores connections between musicians and artists, crossing all
musical genres while interfacing with film, performance and the
visual arts in Knoxville. Church Street will serve as a concert
venue on Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24. Learn more at
www.bigearsfestival.org.
Kitchen Closing The Building for Christ project continues to
move forward! Due to construction, the kitchen will be fully closed
beginning Monday, April 2 for six to eight weeks. No one will be
allowed in the kitchen and this includes no access to the ice
machine, dishwasher, etc.
Never fear: the Soup Kitchen will continue to serve guests even
through the kitchen closure. Did you know the Soup Kitchen has
already been serving guests in the gym? The faith-ful Soup Kitchen
volunteers already have a plan to make sure that all guests are fed
throughout the changes.
Today, we give thanks both for progress and for those who make
accommodations to serve throughout the changes.

Your Service: Holy Week VolunteersThere is an urgent need for

offering hospitality to others. Extra greeters are needed at the

following times:• Palm Sunday morning and Palm Sunday evening for
the choral presentation of St. John Passion on March 25 (begins at
5:00 p.m.)• Maundy Thursday worship (begins at 7:15 p.m.)• Easter
Sunday morning (worship at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m.) Serving will only
take approximately 30-45 minutes of your time. If you can serve,
contact Gabe Blake at [email protected] or Blake Valentine at
[email protected]. Everyone is invited to breakfast
following the Sunrise Service on Easter morning at 7:30 a.m. in the
gym and extra hands are needed. Volunteers are needed on Satur-day,
March 31 at 1:00 p.m. for set-up and prep and on Easter morning at
6:30 a.m. to set-up and serve, during the breakfast to serve and
for clean up. If you are willing to serve, contact Jenny Cheatham
