Chattanooga Edition Chartered in 1987 March 2014 ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!! Time to get involved!! Time to get the most out of EWI!! How, you ask?? Join a committee. Become a mentor. Get mentored. These are three surefire ways to get involved and get the most out of your EWI membership, personally and professionally. Find out more about the ins and outs of EWI. Get excited to go to LCAM. Set a lunch date with a professional contact. Get new business. I will share a quick story....when I first joined EWI, I didn’t know what it was about. I was a replacement representative. I was told to fill out this form and attend monthly meeting. Everyone was very friendly, meetings were interesting and there always seemed to be something going on, I just didn’t know what. I still just "came to meetings". Luckily, I say with a smile, I was asked to be on a committee, and then asked to be on the board, and look at me now--PRESIDENT!! I found out so much about EWI! I discovered the meaning behind LCAM, scholarship presentations, and what EWI is all about. It is so much more than just coming to a meeting, but you have to be willing to ask, accept, and repeat. As with any endeavor in life, the more you put in, the more you get out. Will you become involved? Will you participate on a committee? Will you help EWI continue to grow? The holidays are over, the New Year has begun, the snow has melted.....will you please accept this call to action?
Thank you,

March Meeting Door Prize Theme
Do you have the fever yet? Spring Fever is in the air. Not sure about you but I am looking forward to warmer days, picnics in the park, and beautiful flowers. I believe a good theme for March would be to focus on Spring: Flowers, Easter, Wine, and Picnics.
Please make a note to bring an item and money for the March table.
Current Fundraiser
We will be drawing for our No Dirty Dishes basket(s) in April but for this to be successful, we still need donations of restaurant gift cards or certificates, movie tickets, and money for this fundraiser. Hopefully you have each received your tickets to sell. If not, please contact me at [email protected] or call me at (423) 535-6307 and I will send them to you. If you need additional tickets, please let me know. Remember, the more cards and/or certificates we receive, the more baskets we can make and the more we can collect for our scholarship fund.
We will be continuing to offer the opportunity for you to promote your firm at each meeting by purchasing an ad to be included in the Powerpoint presentation shown throughout the meeting. If you commit to a full year of advertising (10 months), your firm will get one month free...that’s 10 months for the price of 9! You can find the advertising form here on the website.
Sgt-at-Arms: Nena Powell, Lattimore, Black, Morgan & Cain, PC Our February Chapter meeting was canceled due to inclement weather. However, if you registered and paid online for February, you can apply that payment to your March meeting registration instead. Just select the option for a Prepaid Meal on the payment screen. Questions? Email [email protected].
Membership: Rebecca Bishop, Reliance Partners
TRIVIA Question:

What does it mean to be a member of EWI of Chattanooga? You have heard about the Connections, Careers, and Community themes, but what does a EWI of Chattanooga membership look like?
EWI of Chattanooga meets the second Tuesday of each month for a dinner meeting, with special meeting in June (Executive Luncheon) and September (Annual Barnyard Auction, our Chapter’s largest fundraiser). You and your guests can easily register online for each meeting.
At Each Regular Meeting:
Networking: Get to know your fellow EWI members, ask for business or referrals, and enjoy the time together Fundraising: Buy tickets and participate in our door prize table. Tickets cost only $1 each and winners for each item are drawn at the end of the meeting. Program: A guest speaker will present a 20-minute talk focused on Careers, Connections, or Community. Firm Promotion: You can promote your member firm by buying monthly advertising in the meeting PowerPoint that runs throughout each meeting. Also, as a member benefit, your firm is highlighted in one of our free monthly promotions: Newsletter, PowerPoint, Website, or a 5-minute feature at a meeting.
Throughout the Year:
Newsletter: EWIConnect comes out each month. This is our monthly newsletter with important information regarding the Chapter, firm highlights, committee updates, and other details. Fundraising: No Dirty Dishes in April to fund EWI operations; Pecan Sales in November and December, and Barnyard Auction in September to fund scholarships. Scholarships: In November, scholarship checks are presented at UTC, Chattanooga State, and Southern each year to assist single mothers in finishing their college degrees. In May, scholarship money is presented to the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy. Additionally, EWI Corporate awards scholarships to member firm representatives. Webinars: Monthly webinars presented by Corporate are open to all member firm employees. Literacy Initiative: The annual Reading Rally at Chattanooga Head Start connects EWI with local children and early childhood education. Committees: Members can get involved by being in a Chapter committee or serving on the board.
