BREAKFAST WITH THE PRESIDENT April 16 - 9:00 am at GLAR Please RSVP, www.greaterlakesrealtors.com compliments of GLAR The Greater Lakes Association of REALTORS® MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Happy Spring and bring on the spring buyers! I first want to thank everyone that has attended the breakfast, lunch or Happy Hour to bring your ideas and questions to us. I truly enjoy getting out and meeting with the members and hearing about the differences and uniqueness in each of your markets. As we move toward the end of April we will see the end of SASI and the sharing of information across the different MLS’s in greater Minnesota. With this change we are looking into other options to create a system that allows us to share information. We understand this will be a big change for many of our members and could affect the way business is done. Member involvement is important to us as a Board. Events coming up in April include Follow a REALTOR® on April 7, where local high school students can follow a REALTOR®; Newbie Networking on April 16 at noon, where first year members can come and meet with the Board; and Minnesota REALTOR® Volunteer Week April 20-24, a great opportunity to showcase what we do outside of our business. April 16 - 9:00 am at GLAR

compliments of GLAR
The Greater Lakes Association of REALTORS®
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Happy Spring and bring on the spring buyers!
Keep working - as we all know summer is just around the corner!

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS UPDATE WHY INVEST IN RPAC? To be honest with everyone, I have not always contributed to RPAC. Mainly because I really didn't know why I should or what it really was. I just paid my annual dues and opted not to contribute to RPAC. About a year ago there were few things that didn't make a lot sense to me with proposed legislation. New septic regulations, Radon requirements, etc. The REALTOR POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (RPAC) actually supports candidates that are real estate friendly which gives us a voice at the capitol. By supporting these candidates we also get a "heads up" at proposed legislation that may affect our clients and our business giving us a opportunity to make the necessary changes before it's too late.
MNAR SUPPORTS
Promote home ownership Protect Private Property Rights
MNAR OPPOSES
Increasing the cost of property transactions Weakening of private property rights Eliminating the mortgage interest reduction Eliminating the property tax reduction Extending sales tax to real estate transactions Increasing state deed tax Increasing recording fees
In my opinion, every REALTOR® should be investing in RPAC. We need to support the people that support us and our clients. For a minimum of a $15.00/annual donation you can be a supporter. For $50.00/year you become a member. Invest in yourself and become a member. Contact Janie at 218-828-4567 or go to the Minnesota RPAC website to make your donation (put this link in your browser https://nar.ai360.aristotle.com/AI360FormBuilder/Form.aspx?dbid=2e166870-894a-423a-a6f7-6560a8904c6c&page_id=503).
Currently we only have 120 contributors out of 600+ GLAR members. Our Association's numbers are very low compared to other Associations....On April 22nd we will be calling all members that have not contributed yet this year and ask for your support. If you have any questions we will be able to answer them for you at that time also. Look forward to talking with you!

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE Hello All!
The week of April 20-24 Is Minnesota Volunteer Week. We are very proud of all of you who already volunteer your time throughout the year. From bell ringing to school and civic functions, meals on wheels and so much more you've got it covered! Our survey showed that GLAR members have big hearts and are fully vested in the communities in which they live and do business.
For Minnesota Volunteer Week we would like to ask our membership to once again come together and serve those who need just a little bit of help. Can you grab a rake for a couple hours of lawn clean up? Or spend some time at the local animal shelter helping out our furry friends? Each area will have a Member Coordinator who will decide what your project will be and when it will be accomplished. They will then contact your brokerages to see if you would be willing to donate your time and muscle toward these projects. These are the specific coordinators in your area:

SASI UPDATE. . .
Due to Shared Associations Services and Information (SASI) participants being unable to reach a suitable vendor solution for providing shared data, the program will end April 30, 2015.
We will continue to research options in hopes of resolving all issues related to the data share program. Please direct any concerns or questions you may have regarding this matter to your local Association.
