Over the first 6 months of my presidency at the Jersey Shore Chamber of Commerce, I have had the privilege to meet many of our members at different events we have hosted. I usually ask each member, “What do you expect to get out of being a member of the Jersey Shore Chamber of Commerce?”. Responses to that question vary, but the general consensus is to get more business and/or increase revenue. So how do you expect to increase your business? At our chamber I have seen many business relationships grow from continued participation at events, such as the coffee connector breakfast and the business after hours networking events. The members that are visible and establish per- sonal relationships with other members are doing great growing their businesses. Being a speaker or sponsor at an event gives excellent exposure to your business and the chance to be heard by many other chamber members. Joining a committee is also an excellent way to connect with other members and help the chamber at the same time. What doesn’t usually work? One and done! Showing up and expecting business by attending one event. Cultivating relationships takes a lot longer than 1 visit before you start seeing results. The more you are seen and heard, the more your message will get through to other members. Get involved! How does the chamber help and what are the benefits of membership? • The Jersey Shore Chamber of Commerce currently hosts over 80 events each calendar year. The weekly coffee connector breakfast offers speaker and sponsor opportunities with an average atten- dance of 50 people. Our annual business expo, golf outing, & summer scholarship BBQ are other excellent events. • Our marketing committee has put together some great opportunities that include the brand new “Member Spotlight” that gives members the chance to highlight their business in our quarterly news- letter, website, email, social media, as well as being featured in the Coast Star Newspaper! Other marketing opportunities include MAP advertising (our every 2 year local Map), our meeting banner sign advertising the chamber and our members, which is displayed at all events and the “Summer Kickoff Classic” that allows for sponsor and advertising opportunities during our welcome to the summer at the Jersey Shore local bus tour. • Joint events with other chambers. We have done educational events such as Dale Carnegie training courses to joint networking at the Lakewood BlueClaws Stadium. The Asbury Park Chamber has joined us for speed networking and beach networking events. So that is some of what we do to help you promote and grow your business. I look forward to hearing from you. Tell me about your ideas and what you think may work to make our chamber even better moving forward. Feel free to call me anytime if you have any questions or comments on how we can help you. Thanks and enjoy the remainder of the summer at the Jersey Shore. Drew Anlas Jersey Shore Chamber of Commerce President Cell (732)977-2096 NJ Lenders Corp.

Leverage Your Membership with the
Jersey Shore Chamber of Commerce
Here are three ways to leverage your JSCC Membership to better
your business and the community.
Membership in the Jersey Shore Chamber of Commerce provides your business with powerful tools to mar-ket your services, reach potential clients, and foster positive economic development in the communities where you live and work. Joining the JSCC is about more than attending General Membership Meetings. Here are three hot tips for making your membership dollars work for you: Contribute to our newsletter and have your article reach our entire email database….all for FREE. By writing articles in the quarterly JSCC Southern Exposure Newsletter, your words of wisdom will reach the entire JSCC email database. This is a surefire way to leverage your membership dollars and market your industry know-how to a friendly audience that you will meet again. Articles with an awareness or education focus can be forwarded to clients who need your services, providing endless opportunity to work with the existing membership to reach your ideal customer. Hosting a “Business After-Hours” is the lowest cost solution for bringing customers through your door. One of the benefits to JSCC membership is the opportunity to host a “business after-hours” gathering that is broadcast to members with plan-ning advice provided by the Chamber. There is simply no more inexpensive way to create advertising, broadcast a message, and reach a willing and enthusiastic audience. What would you pay to have 30 – 70 potential customers in front of you at once? Joining the JSCC allows the Chamber to flourish and provides an important business incubator for startups and entrepre-neurs. Let’s face it, the past two years have proven that we all share the same national economy. Whether your business has 300 employees or you are the “chief cook and bottle washer,” a vibrant chamber allows startups the best opportunity to reach customers, test their business models and grow into success. Your chamber membership is about more than reaching customers. Even the largest of companies in our area can do their part in supporting the community around them.
