The Tweed The Jean Tweed Centre Newsletter Spring/Summer 2014 1 Spring/Summer 2014 Message from our Executive Director Dear friends and colleagues, After 25 years as the Executive Director of the Jean Tweed Centre, I have decided to retire as of Nov 1 st 2014. It has been such great a privilege to work at Jean Tweed and be part of an organization that is so dynamic and caring. Every day, I have seen the wisdom of the extraordinary people with whom I have worked over the years - I witnessed compassion, commitment and courage from our clients, staff and volunteers, and strong support and encour- agement from our funders, donors and the many leaders in our sys- tem. I am very proud of our accomplishments - of the women who have come to the Centre for help, our staff and volunteers, our partners and everyone associated with the work of our Centre. I leave knowing the women we help and their families are in good hands. My decision to retire is made easier, knowing that the Centre has a well-established team of dedicated staff, and a strong Board of Directors. I am confi- dent that the Centre’s exceptional clinical care, strategic priorities and good management will continue without disruption. And, as our health care system continues to evolve, I am certain that Jean Tweed will thrive and demonstrate leadership, innovation and compassion. Our Board of Directors is actively engaged in a recruiting process (including retaining Four Corners Group to assist with our search) and intends to announce my successor in the next few months, so that we can ensure seamless continuity of leadership and a smooth transition of responsibilities. I will miss each of you, and want to thank you for your wonderful sup- port and partnerships with the Centre over the years. “The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compas- sion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Message from our Executive Director
Dear friends and colleagues,
After 25 years as the Executive Director of the Jean Tweed Centre, I
have decided to retire as of Nov 1st 2014.
It has been such great a privilege to work at Jean Tweed and be part
of an organization that is so dynamic and caring. Every day, I have
seen the wisdom of the extraordinary people with whom I have worked
over the years - I witnessed compassion, commitment and courage
from our clients, staff and volunteers, and strong support and encour-
agement from our funders, donors and the many leaders in our sys-
tem.
I am very proud of our accomplishments - of the women who have
come to the Centre for help, our staff and volunteers, our partners and
everyone associated with the work of our Centre. I leave knowing the

Volunteering at the Jean Tweed Centre provides an enrich-
ing experience for our volunteers, staff and clients.
We have opportunities for volunteers to participate in a
wide range of activities from gardening and helping out in
the kitchen to assisting facilitators in the delivery of pro-
gramming. No task is too small and all are equally valued.
Contact with clients vary depending on the role, agency
needs and the interests/skill of the volunteer.
The Centre typically has recruitment, orientation and
training twice a year for new volunteers in the late winter
and early fall. All positions require a minimum one year
commitment. To apply for a volunteer position or if you have any questions, please complete the
