Sex for moneyOn February 5th, Merritt RCMP were
advised a of suspicious incident that oc-
curred on two occasions over the pastweek. A citizen advised that the same ve-hicle, same male driver had tried to pickthem requesting sex for money. The re-quest was denied and the male droveaway. From the description provided,police identified a local 66-year old man.The man was spoken to and warnedabout his behaviour.
Out of controOn February 3, at approx. 12:15am,
Merritt RCMP were investigating an as-sault with a weapon file when they locateda grossly intoxicated local 19-year oldwoman laying in the street freaking out.
She yelled at police and refused to calmdown enough for EHS to assess her. Shetried to run away several times and waseventually arrested for causing a distur-
bance. While being assisted by police, shetried to kick the attending police officer.When she was unsuccessful in kicking theofficer, she tried to spit on both officers.
The woman was so out of control andviolent that the Provincial Ambulancewas not willing to transport her to thehospital. Police transported her in theirvehicle to the Emergency Room whereshe refused to allow medical personnel toexamine or treat her. She again spit on thepolice officers and refused to comply withany direction. She was eventually lodgedin police custody and held until shesobered up and could take care of herself.
She is facing a charge of Assaulting aPolice Officer and will appear in Provin-cial Court in April 2013.
