Merri-Mac’s Quality Staff We feel that the staff plays a significant part in your daughter’s camp experience. That is why it is important for us to be extremely selec-tive when choosing our staff. The counselors at Merri-Mac have two main responsibilities; teaching the variety of activities offered and encouraging campers to have fun and experience new things while in a safe environment.

The activities at Merri-Mac are taught by some of the most qualified counselors in the country. Many of our counselors compete in their sport on a college level. Campers receive lessons from individuals that have become experts in their sport. Each counselor has the skills and knowl-edge to make every activity the safest and most exciting one at camp.

The counselors at Merri-Mac are hired not only because of their expertise in their activity, but also because of their caring, loving and adven-turous personalities that will help your daughter get the most out of every day at camp. Each counselor is enriched with the Christian faith that we hope will be fundamental in helping the campers grow.

A large percentage of our counselors began with us as campers. This gives our staff an added ad-vantage in understand the traditions, values and culture of Merri-Mac as well as an enthusiasm for giving each camper a meaningful and fun-filled summer.

A Typical Day at CampA typical day at Merri-Mac is filled with joy, love and singing. Singing is a one of the main aspects that makes Merri-Mac different from other summer camps. Girls at Merri-Mac sing after breakfast, lunch, dinner and at our daily chapel service.

After the girls have attended chapel, they attend two scheduled activities before heading off to a delicious and nutritional lunch and rest hour. We feel that having a rest hour each day is vital for campers to be able to be engaged in all the activities we have to offer. After rest hour, the campers participate in two more schedule activi-ties before heading to supper.

Every night after supper, the campers partici-pate in an evening activity. Each evening activity is different and is usually a competition between our three tribes, the Choctaw, the Iroquois and the Seminoles which your daughter will be initi-ated into on her first night at Merri-Mac. The tribal competitions give the girls the opportu-nity to learn how to partake in fun and friendly competition.

Campers also have the opportunity to experi-ence off-campus trips. The activities that take trips are back-packing, canoeing/kayaking and rock climbing.

At Merri-Mac, a positive attitude is essential throughout the day. We want campers to believe they can succeed in any task that is given to them. We also believe that we have been blessed with an exciting world and we need to have fun living in it.

Merri-Mac Tribes On your daughter’s first night at camp, she will be initiated into one of our three Indian tribes, the Choctaw, the Iroquois and the Seminoles. Her new tribe will become her family. From the moment her name is called by “The Great Spirit” and she is placed into a tribe, your daughter will form an instant bond with her tribe.

After initiation, campers head to the first official tribal meeting to meet their tribal leaders, the chief, med-man and two braves. At the meetings, campers get a real sense about what it means to be apart of a tribe. The pride the campers feel for their tribes is unlike anything else. Every night, the campers participate in evening activities, most of which are tribal competitions. Throughout the session, campers work to gain points for their tribe and at the end of the session the tribe that obtains the most points wins the banner. Once your daughter is initiated into a tribe she will forever be a Choctaw, an Iroquois or a Seminole.*All of the information in this newsletter was obtained through the Merri-Mac Web site.
