By Chris Schram, D.B.A., CCS-P As Spring approaches, Meridian Career Institute is jumping forward with new students beginning each month and as with anything, growth brings change. The faculty at Merid- ian Career Institute has grown during the past few months. The Allied Health and Cosme- tology programs have both experienced a growth in the number of faculty members. In the Allied Health areas, we have added two new faculty members: Ms. Cathy Douglas, Medical Assistant, and Mr. Mark Brophy. Ms. Douglas joined our faculty in February teaching the Anatomy & Physi- ology class. She worked as a Medical Assistant for approxi- mately fifteen years. Mr. Mark Brophy has also joined the Allied Health Department. He brings with him eighteen years of experience in health care administration, coding, and billing. Cosmetology has added a night instructor, Ms. Kristina Brus- seau, who comes to Meridian Career Institute with approxi- mately ten years of experience in cosmetology. When you see these new members on campus, please welcome them to our team. I continue to look forward to the growth of students and the need to add additional faculty. In the months to come, look for a spotlight on instructors as each individual faculty mem- ber will be highlighted. As Spring approaches, Meridian Career Institute is jumping forward with new students beginning each month and as with anything, growth brings change. The faculty at Merid-ian Career Institute has grown during the past few months. The Allied Health and Cosme-tology programs have both experienced a growth in the

number of faculty members.

In the Allied Health areas, we have added two new faculty members: Ms. Cathy Douglas, Medical Assistant, and Mr. Mark Brophy. Ms. Douglas joined our faculty in February teaching the Anatomy & Physi-ology class. She worked as a Medical Assistant for approxi-

mately fifteen years. Mr. Mark

Brophy has also joined the Allied Health Department. He brings with him eighteen years of experience in health care administration, coding, and

billing.

Cosmetology has added a night instructor, Ms. Kristina Brus-seau, who comes to Meridian Career Institute with approxi-mately ten years of experience

in cosmetology.

When you see these new members on campus, please welcome them to our team. I continue to look forward to the growth of students and the need to add additional faculty. In the months to come, look for a spotlight on instructors as each individual faculty mem-

ber will be highlighted.

For a special project, the Dental Assist-ing students created show boards which are on display in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) for a short while. They depict common dental office scenes and terminology. After they are removed from the LRC, they will be in the dental lab (room 108) for

an extended period of time.

The Dental Assisting class is finishing their first Module. They have learned about the dental team and dental office. Laws and ethics for the Dental team

were covered, as well.

In the next Module, the class will learn how to take x-rays and will study hu-man anatomy. The students are espe-cially excited about this clinical part of the course and gaining “hands on” ex-

perience.
