Executive Summary With all of the activity currently going on within the walls of the sixth floor, it’s hard to believe that only a month has gone by since our last update. Finish work is in full swing throughout the project. Drywall crews are completing their very last sections with painters following closely behind applying prime and finish coats. Within the patient rooms, bathroom tile is being laid, case- work is being set, and plumbing fixtures are getting installed. Exciting times are approaching as several areas are revealing their completed form. The nature of the jobsite during this final phase is very busy and fast paced. Tradesmen are literally working on top of one another in order to complete an area and move to the next. The peak in worker activity makes it more impor- tant than ever to continue our full time infection control duties. Looking forward, our completion date is within sight. Finish work will con- tinue, gradually moving from one end of the floor to the other. Meanwhile, many workers will be terminating and putting the final touches on a variety of low voltage systems. As you’ll see in the pictures on the following page, this is going to be a very beautiful unit when it’s all finished. Spotlight on Safety

Safety is always a high priority and continues to chal-

lenge us all with opportunities. Currently, there are up

to 35+ workers on site. They are on ladders as well as

using a variety of saws, drills and other power tools.

Our intensive safety training has taught the workers on

our site how to work safely and effectively and we

have avoided serious injuries. In fact, E&V currently

has over 1,800 days without any lost time injuries!

A Look Ahead Everyone is working very hard on the finishes of the project. At this point we are

installing tile, casework, and smoothing out the old concrete floors so we can

install new sheet vinyl. Also, the preparation for the new ceilings has started.

Follow us:

Quality Corner

We work diligently to create a

quality project from the very be-

ginning so when we reach the

point of critiquing the fine details

of the finishes, we don’t have to

make major changes. We also

have Progressive AE available to

cross check details, and Adam Ro-

galla, with his tremendous amount

of experience, has helped the pro-

ject through multiple details.

Spotlight

This month we’d like to spotlight Ritsema’s Flooring Division. The products that

they install make up a large portion of the finished surfaces of the unit. Over the

past month or so, Ritsema has been very busy laying a combination of ceramic

and glass wall tile in all the patient bathrooms. Now they are preparing the old

concrete floors to accept thousands of square feet of sheet vinyl. With flooring

remaining as one the last items to be installed, Ritsema is a critical player in the

success of the construction team as we look toward completion.

Fun Fact

Did you know? A watermelon is

considered by some as a vegeta-

ble, not a fruit! It is closely related

to cucumbers, pumpkins and

squash. Watermelon is composed

of 92% water and early explorers

often used hollowed out water-

melons as canteens.
