SUPERINTENDENTLETTER FROM THE
Dear Members,
The turf care crew is gearing up for another summer season of golf. Our goal is to provide consistent playing conditions day in and day out. One of the ways we achieve this is with our mowing schedules. Greens are mowed daily, tees and fairways are mowed 3 to 4 times per week, and roughs are mowed once or twice per week depending on the growth rate. All reels are checked to insure the quality of cut. We do this by using a piece of paper. If a reel does not cut paper, it is sharpened and adjusted until it does cut paper. Our Mechanic, Sergio, does an outstanding job making sure these specifications are met. We have started working on bunkers to remove rocks, improve drainage, and maintain consistent sand depths throughout. Please do your part to maintain our bunkers by raking foot prints and leaving rakes inside the bunker.
The greens will continue to be our main priority. We have completed our spring aerifications and applied the nutrients to grow a deep and dense root system. In order to maintain this root system, we will be venting greens throughout the summer with small aerification tines which will promote air and gas exchange at the root system. This venting process allows minimal disruption to the putting surface. We will be striving to maintain consistent green speeds, but there are factors, such as rainfall and high humidity, that can really slow down the green speeds.
Please be aware of signs restricting golf carts on certain holes and observe the 90 degree rule on unrestricted holes. Thank you for repairing ball marks. It makes a huge difference on our greens. See you on the course,
Jason

TEEFROM THE
Ladies
18 HolesThe Birdies at the Brook invitational was a huge success. We had 40 teams participating. The course was in perfect condition and the weather was beautiful. We would like to thank the MGA for sponsoring holes and donating money to help make our invitational a success. A big thanks to Jody Junger and her committee for all their hard work.
We are looking forward to the Ladies MeadowLark in June.
9 Holes28 golfers enjoyed the beautiful weather for the 9 Hole Spring Guest day on May 11th. First place winners were Nancy Gustine and Diann Carnahan. Second place went to Patty Foster and Debbie Jones. An Olympic theme with fun games on many holes awarded prizes to others as well. We followed with a red, white and blue salad and a color themed dessert. Special thanks to the members of the Scissortail team for planning this wonderful event.
We played our first Team Play on May 18 after a late start because of many rainy Wednesdays.
