Over the summer I visited my relatives in Africa. Elephants live in Africa. I hoped I would see some

elephants.

My family and I went to Africa to visit my Uncle, Aunt and Cousins.

Page 4: Melody

We slept in a strange house. In the morning my cousins and I played hide and seek.

Page 5: Melody

I went to far when I was trying to find a hiding place. I got lost.

Page 6: Melody

I walked and called for my cousins. But they were no where to be found.

Page 7: Melody

I was so upset I didn’t realize what was around me.

Page 8: Melody

Until I heard a a strange noise. I stopped crying and looked around.

There were elephants everywhere. Some had huge tusks. I knew that male elephants tusks grow 7 inches to 18 inches a

year!

They were amazing! I saw little elephants and big elephants. I stayed a far distance from them. I was afraid they would step

on me because a full grown African elephants weighs between 4000 and 7000 kg.

I sat and watched them for hours. I didn’t know one little elephant was watching me to.

The baby elephant walked over to me. He stood a far distance from me. he was afraid I would step on him. Just

kidding. I looked at him and he looked at me.

I took a step forward and he stepped forward. He was standing next to me. We said hi in are different ways. The elephant’s trunk was very long. Elephant’s trunks normally

reach all the way to the ground.

Then we started to play. We came to a waterfall. We got really wet. After that we went to a a grassy plain. There were

white birds. We chased them together.

When it was sunset we said good by and went are different ways. I went home to my relatives.

I was glad to see my family and the weird house they lived in. When it was time to go to bed I Wrote down everything that

happened that special day.

My Uncle saw me writing and told me all about Elephants this is what he said:

African Elephants weigh between 4000 – 7000 kg

Shoulder height is 3 – 4 Meters

Up to 21 pairs of ribs

They eat Mainly leaves
