You are required to do one assignment for the M aster's Degree in English (MEG -10)which is a Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) and carries 100 marks. Thisassignment covers the entire course from Block 1 to Block 8.Aims: This TMA is concerned mainly with assessing your application andunderstanding of the course material. You are not required to reproduce chunks ofinformation from the course material but to use the skills of critical appreciation thatyou may have acquired during the course of study. This assignment aims to teach aswell as to assess your performance. Please ensure that you read all the textsprescribed in the course. Let m e repeat: you must read all the poems, essays, andthe novel prescribed. Do make points as you go along. GUIDELINES FOR TMAsYou w ill find it u s e h l to keep the following points in mind:1. Planning: Read the questions carefully. Go through the units on which they
are based. Make some points regarding each question and then rearrangethese in a logical order. And please write the answers in your own words. Donot reproduce passages from the units.2. Organisation: Be a little more selective and analytic before drawing up arough outline of your answer. In an essay-type question, give adequateattention to your introduction and conclusion. The introduction mu st offeryour brief interpretation of the question and how your propose to develop it.The conclusion must summ arise your response to the question. In the courseof your answer, you may like to make references to other texts or critics as
this will add som e depth to your analysis.Make sure that your answer:
a> is logical and coherent;b) has clear connections between sen tences and paragraphs;c> is written correctly giving adequ ate consideration to yo urexpression, style and presentation;d) does not exceed the num ber of words indicated in your question.
3. Presentation: Once you are satisfied w ith your answ ers, you can write dow nthe final version for subm ission, writing each answer neatly and un derliningthe points you wish to em phasize.
