October 2015 www.umhahorseclub.asn.au The Upper Murray Horseman’s Associaon would like thank Rick Kamevaar and Blacklocks Isuzu for their generous sponsorship throughout 2015 Rick Kamevaar Sales Manager Ph:0260 495 500 Mobile: 0428 659 384 Email: [email protected]www.blacklock.com.au The week before our last Team Yarding & Two Handed Cutting event at Tallangatta we heard the disturbing story about a former Tallangatta resident – Kellie George. - & the fund raising activities planned that weekend by the Tallangatta Hotel. On the 20 th May 2015 Kellie George a 37yo Mum went to Melbourne to have some medical tests done. Unfortunately while she was there Kellie suffered a stroke leaving her paralysed on one side. Kellie is married with a young daughter. As it happens Kellie is a niece of John & Lorraine Boyd of the Boiling Billy – who often provide catering for our UMHA events. To help Kellie & her family during this difficult time a number of fund raising activities were being held in Tallangatta the weekend of our event . In keeping with our history of supporting charitable causes we decided to support the activities in Tallangatta with our own fund raising. With the generosity of our members we pulled together $250 which was added to the $4,000 raised from the other weekends activities. Money which can help make a difference for Kellie & her family. Thanks to everyone for your support. The Upper Murray Horseman’s Association would like thank Rick Kamevaar and Blacklocks Isuzu for their generous sponsorship throughout 2015
Tallangatta was once again another successful weekend
run by the club.
It is a shame that we can no longer use the Wodonga
Indoor arena due to the cost increase by both the
Wodonga Racing Club and the Wodonga Show society.
Also the reduced camping area would not have fitted us
all in.
A big thank you the following people who without your
help this event would not happen.
Tim White for all the ringing around, helping draft
up and organising the cattle for Saturday
Linda Mar for the loan of the cattle for Saturday

We had a fantastic turn out for our Working Bee on the 8 August at the Tallangatta Grounds, with the numbers topping 16. With so many helping hands the job list was shrinking before our eyes. The great weather certainly made it a pleasure to be outside.
Gary Matheson was on hand to put power and lights to the bottom toilet block. It seems he even picked up a new apprentice, or maybe it was a case of he couldn’t shake him??; either way, well done Mitchell. Thanks to Brett Thomas, from Batkat Rural Services and his trusty Kanga, it certainly made very short work of the trenching job.
Pud and the Fergie, the wonder tractor, worked up the ground and it was looking a real treat. Then the boys were able to rearrange the panels ready for the Encouragement school at the end of August. Sven, Denis and Ethan worked on the supports for the colour-bond wall, which will permanently replace the Geo-fabric wall along the
side of the yards.
Dom had delivered 20t of sand, and although that sounds a lot, it didn’t take long to be distributed in the camp. Huge thanks to Shaun Walsh for lending us his nifty little Cat Posi-track, with Garry Gordon from National Industrial Training Centre at Barnawartha (Dave’s experienced mate) on board it made short work of the camp, yards and marshalling area jobs.
It’s always the problem when writing these stories that you miss someone, there is no doubt many hands made light work and every single person who was there contributed to the final fantastic outcome. Great to see some new faces, like Steve from Porepunka.
So looking forward to the next working bee, which is planned for September, if I see you there I might even chuck a snag on the barbie for you!

The Eldorado Trail Ride was attended by 10 keen
riders braving the frosty chilly nights at the Eldorado
reserve which were luckily kept warm by a very
creative fire!. The Saturday ride took in some lovely
tracks, thorough the bush and up onto the
spectacular look out over looking the town and
surrounds of Eldorado. Once back down on the lower
part we stopped for a sausage sizzle and a cuppa
accompanied by a very much liked chocolate cake
provided by Viann. Sunday mornings ride went for
two hours along the Reedy Creek which everyone
enjoyed.
Thank you for all who turned up to enjoy Eldorado.
