• Elementary school (K-5)– All award levels: provided to all full-day students

• Middle school (6-8)– Bronze and Silver levels: offered in one or more

grades

– Gold and Gold Award of Distinction: offered in two or more grades

• High school (9-12)– All award levels: offered in two courses required for

graduation

• Structured physical education must be provided for all students, all grade levels, for all award levels, throughout the school year

• Structured physical activity other than physical education classes may also be included for part of the physical education requirement.

• Structured physical activity is – Moderate to vigorous– Planned by a certified PE teacher– Conducted by a teacher (not necessarily a PE teacher)– In increments of at least 10 minutes– Counts as EITHER PE or physical activity

• Bronze and Silver Awards:– At least 45 minutes PE per week per grade

• Gold Award of Distinction:– At least 150 minutes PE per week per grade

– Up to 45 minutes from structured physical activity

• Fundraising: mostly non-food items sold. Food items meet HUSSC standards
