The use of single-use cannula and instruments can play an important role in preventing Toxic Anterior Segment Syndrome (TASS). TASS is defined as an acute postoperative inflammatory reaction in which a noninfectious substance enters the anterior segment and induces toxic damage to the intraocular tissue.1
• Utilizing single-use cannula and instruments during cataract surgery may help prevent the occurrence of TASS.2
• A potential risk factor for TASS is resterilization of instruments between procedures.2
