PHYSICAL
EDUCATION
PURPOSE of PE:To enable students to demonstrate individually and with others the physical skills, practices, and values to enjoy a lifetime of active, healthy living
GOALS OF PEGoal 1: Acquire a range of motor skills to participate in a variety of
physical activities.
Goal 2: Understand and apply movement concepts, principles and strategies in a range of physical activities.
Goal 3: Demonstrate safe practices during physical and daily activities with respect to themselves, others and the environment.
Goal 4: Display positive personal and social behavior across different experiences.
Goal 5: Acquire and maintain health-enhancing fitness through regular participation in physical activities.
Goal 6: Enjoy and value the benefits of living a physically active and healthy life.
Physical Education (P6)PE Components Description
Athleticsinvolves students primarily in running, jumping (distance & height) and
throwing activities
Danceprovides opportunities for pupils to be involved in and enjoy different
dances (folk & social) to promote harmony and respect for cultural
differences
Games & Sportsdevelopment of games-related concepts through modified net-barrier,
striking-fielding and territorial-invasion games
Gymnasticsbody management and control through creative interpretation of
movement and sequence (balancing, rotating, sequencing, mounting,
dismounting, vaulting)
Outdoor Education
engages students’ sense of adventure through exploration of both natural
& urban environments, develop appropriate outdoor skills while cultivating
an attitude of care & appreciation for the envt and thoughtful consideration
of the risks & safety of self and others
Physical Health &
Fitnessfire safety, diet & exercise, health & skill related fitness, oral health
* Summative grade will focus on selected components
PE Lessons
• Be appropriately attired (PE T-shirt and shorts)
- otherwise not allowed to participate
• Excused from PE if unwell (doctor’s MC/ parent’s letter)
- teachers will usually give pupils the benefit of doubt
• Emphasis on safe play
- remind pupils not to push their peers in mischief
• Management of Injury during PE lessons
- attend to treat the injury (no application of cream, oil etc)
- ambulance will be called in for serious injury
- call to inform parent/ guardian

their composer, e.g. Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev /
The Four Seasons by Vivaldi
P5 & P6: Recognise the music and instruments from at least 2 of
the following:
i) 1 Asian culture from the following: China, India,
Japan, Korea
ii) 1 Polynesian/Oceania culture from the following:
Australia, New Zealand
iii) the Western classical traditions: Musicals and Operas

Learning Outcomes of Art Education
PRIMARY SIX
The aims of art education are to enable every child to be visually literate and to appreciate art.
The objectives are achieved through: Artmaking (making of artwork) and
Art Discussion (talk/ write about the artwork)
Art skills: At least 5 components with Art Discussion• Drawing • Colouring & Painting• Collage• Print making/ Patterns• Craft• 3D/ Sculpture• Digital Art
Focus skill:P6 – Art Discussion
Holistic Assessment• Personal Response
- Convey ideas and experiences through images
• Use of Media & Materials- Control of tools and materials appropriate to intentions
• Aesthetics Qualities- Use of art elements and design principles in artmaking to support artistic intentions
Summative grade will focus on selected components.
• Please buy only round-tipped scissors for your child for art lessons
• Please inform FT & Art Teacher if your child has an allergy to any
art materials.
