• To make the park pretty, they used over 15,000 plants.

Thaipusam is a Hindu festival. Participants pierce their skin ! How painful would that be? VERY PAINFUL! They walk seven miles in the Batu Caves!

•The Thaipusam Festival is to honor Shiva’s son.•They pierce their bodies with hooks and spears as a sacrifice.

The Thaipusam festival takes place in the Batu caves.

•Devotees prepare for the celebration by cleansing themselves through prayer and fasting approx-48 days before Thaipusam.

The celebration of dragon dances, fireworks and family gatherings. Decorated with duilian. Duilian is a Chinese poetry. Window and doors are painted red for good luck. Cooked dumplings are for good wishes for the family all year. They also have red envelopes with money. Red is for good luck if you wear it or have it painted on.
