WHERE THEY LIVE
Meerkats have strong sense of smell, vision, and hearing.
Meerkats average about 20 inches long, including their tail.
Social
They will eat small reptiles, caterpillars, spiders and other disgusting stuff.
Babysitters stay behind at the hole to protect the babies from other mobs.
When a meerkat senses danger it will send out a high pitched sound to warn the others.
When burrowing a Meerkat closes its ears to keep dust out.
Their average lifespan is 10 years.
Communicate with purring sounds
Meerkats are Also called Suricats.
Each burrow is an extensive tunnel and room system that remains cool even under the boiling African sun.
Young meerkats are so fearful of predator birds that even airplanes will send them diving for cover.
All adult meerkats pitch in to help educate the young in hunting and survival.
