Do you know ‘meerkats’?

Hello, I’m Sunny.

I live in the

Kalahari Desert, in

Africa.

The Kalahari Desert

is in Southern Africa

covering Namibia,

Botswana and South

Africa.

I am 25-35cm tall and I weigh 600-960gr.

My tail is 17-25cm long.

A mother meerkat can have 4 or 5 babies.

We live up to 10 years

I like eating insects,

insects larvae, beetles,

lizards, snakes but my

favourite is a scorpion

snack

We love our family, we are 10-15 meerkats in a family.

2 or 3 families live together so meerkats live in groups of 40.

We live in burrows

Meerkats love digging holes. We can dig holes in the sand with our front legs very quickly. The holes can be 3metres deep.

Meerkats sleep cuddled to keep warm at nights.

This is the most famous meerkat. He was an actor in the film ‘Lion King’. Do you know it?
