Colorado rural hospitals served 6% of all Colorado Medicare inpatients in 2012.
iVantage examined 233 DRGs common to both Colorado rural and PPS hospitals, and to all US hospitals. DRGs with less than 5 total cases were excluded.

If Colorado PPS hospitals charged the same rate as Colorado Rural Hospitals, there would be $2,471,435,175 less in Medicare charges. If all U.S. hospitals charged the same rate as Colorado Rural Hospitals, there would be $155,479,999,160 less in Medicare charges.
