Medical taping wordt al sinds het begin van de jaren zeventig toegepast door fysiotherapeuten. Uiteindelijk is sinds 2012 deze methodiek in Nederland pas doorgebroken. KT Taping en medical taping hebben een overlap. Echter bestaan er grote verschillen.
