Our Pharmacy Technician program—a well-rounded mix of classroom work, laboratory hours, and practical experience—is designed to teach you the skills to work as a Pharmacy Technician in private pharmacies, retail settings, hospitals, and medical centers. The need for well-trained Pharmacy Technicians is increasing locally and nationally. You’ll start by building a strong base with classes such as Pharmacology I, Pharmacy Law & Ethics, and Medical Terminology. New diagnostic techniques, laboratory technology and automated instruments have greatly increased the demand for medical lab testing.

Respiratory therapists work with patients to offer long-term care for chronic conditions. In this program at Laurel, you’ll start by developing basic medical skills like taking blood pressure and using oxygen delivery devices. Soon after that, you’ll learn to use advanced technology such as mechanical ventilators, and you’ll study advanced medical topics like hemodynamic monitoring, cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology, arterial blood gases, pulmonary functions, and critical care issues. Most importantly, you’ll develop and sharpen your skills by applying this knowledge in clinical situations throughout the program.
