MAJOR EMERGENCIES• If it is not practical to move the ill or injured

individual, do NOT call 911; call the Rice University Police

• Depending on the injury, individual will be taken to Hermann Hospital’s Emergency Room (or hospital of choice); Rice ID required

• If injury involves a chemical, an MSDS should accompany the victim to the hospital

• Report immediately to the supervisor, who should then fill out a First Report of Injury form

MINOR EMERGENCIES

• If medical attention is required, the injured should be taken to Hermann Hospital’s Emergency Room or their physician of choice

Page 4: Medical Emergencies

• For situations not involving an injury contact the Environmental Health and Safety Department (EH&S)

• Complete an Accident Incident Report Form

• Submit it to the Department Head and EH&S
