Collection of CDR Files from C-DOT Switch The main CDOT switch (MBM) which contains Central Module will

generate CDRs and dump into IOP within predefined intervals.

CES (Compact Embedded System) device connects to the IOP and collects the CDRS in to CES box buffer (256 MB storage capacity).

Unlike MTE box which is directly connected to the E10 B switch, CES box will be connected to the IOP only.

CES box is nothing but a PC with Linux operating system having NIC card assigned an IP address.

For installing CES devices separate software to be installed in IOP and CES attached PC.

• The control and Memory cards in E10B switch will generate CDRs and write on to magnetic tape drive.

• At present these CDR files are collected off line into a exchange PC.• A device called MTE box was installed by replacing the Magnetic Tape writer

for storing the CDR files. • The data bus cable which is connected to Magnetic Tape Drive is bi-passed and

connected to MTE i.e. MTE is directly connected to E10B switch.• File server (PC) • IP for ftp• MTE also requires an additional PC ( file server) with an application software

called “ADRS Charlie” loaded in it for collecting the CDR stream and making the CDR files in regular intervals.

The protocol implemented in OCB switches is CMISE which is proprietary protocol of Alcatel.

A third party application called Packetware is used as intermediate application in a separate server, where in CDR data will be provided (pushed) by the OCB switches.

The CDR data will be written in the Packetware server in a regular intervals (say 1 hour) and the CDR files will be collected from this server to Mediation server using ftp protocol.

Process Flow

Step1 :- CDR file will be collected from the switch in a scheduled interval of time.

Step2 :- CDR file will be read as per encoding rules and CDR structure.

Step3 :- Filtration of CDRs will be done here as per business rules, such as

incoming calls, prepaid calls etc.

Step4 :- Duplicate CDR check follows.

Step5:- Aggregation of partial CDRs (if available) will be done.

Step6:- Apply the billing requirements and generate the CDRs in billing format.

CDR Processing Validating the CDR fields, error CDR detection & error CDR re-processing. Duplicate CDRs detection. Filtering the certain CDRs as per the business requirements.

Incoming calls Transit calls (Calls transferred between two or more switches) FLPP outgoing calls ITC Outgoing calls Supplementary service CDRs (123,124,114,115,118,119)

(Password registration, Local, STD, ISD barring provisioning by customer) Fillers (Some additional characters incorporated purposefully by Switch

in order to make the CDR structure / block to obey certain rules in size/ length)

Other toll free CDRs are not filtered and providing to billing with free CDR usage ID (1004).

Recon Mechanism Between Switch & Mediation Time Gap Analysis Reports

Indicating the Unacceptable Time gap between any two CDRs Switches are categorized into 3 different categories Acceptable Time gaps (busy Hour / Slack Hours) are defined for each

category.

Time Gap Analysis Configuration

Recon Mechanism Between Switch & Mediation

Sequence Number Verification• Either CDR sequence number or file sequence number / Time stamp continuity

CDR Sequence Number Verification• Possible in EWSD, E10B, AXE & ZTE• Even if time gap is present, if CDR sequence is continuous, there is no need to

alert the switch in-charges

File (BLOCK) Sequence Number Verification• File sequence number is used in 5ESS & ZTE• BLOCK sequence number is used in OCB

File Count Verification• Used in CDOT Exchanges, where file transfer rate is one file per hour

Page 20: MediatonPortal_21012011_BRBRAITT_JBP

Recon Mechanism Between Mediation & Billing

File Verification

• The number of files sent by mediation are verified with the number of files received by the billing system & are reconciled

• Number of records in each file forwarded by Mediation are being verified at billing end
