OUR FILM Our film is a psychological horror, our storyline is based on the protagonist, ‘Leena Wilkes’, she is a university student, and has unfortunately lost her mum in a tragic car accident, but now that she has died, ‘Leena Wilkes’ is now having Hallucinations of someone always watching over her and gets freaked out every time she’s alone. “Young, happy and full of life, but not for long. In her last year of university, Leena Wilkes loses an important part of her life. She now thinks she's alone…. But is she?”

INSPIRATIONThe film “Orphan” which is distributed by Dark Castle Entertainment is a psychological horror movie, it is about a girl called "Esther", she has been adopted from an orphanage home after a couple has a miscarriage and sees no hope but to adopt a child .But the couple are unknown of what "Esther" has been through and what problems are awaiting with her presence in the family .“A husband and wife who recently lost their baby adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be.”The “Orphan” was also an inspiration for our own film poster and storyline. We decided to use a simple picture for our main image on our film poster like the “orphan”. And on our main task storyline we decided to use a university student rather than a younger child because we thought our target market will be more wider. We also thought that instead of using a typical orphanage child we decided to make a contradicting unusual opening sequence by our protagonist already having recently lost her mum but she is old enough to live on her own, so the opening would be the after life o fthis consequence for her, this would make it more interesting and scary

MORE INSPIRATIONOur film was also inspired by “Dark Water”, which was distributed by Touchstone Pictures. This is a story about a mother and daughter who move into a new apartment and get haunted and see signs of distress. “A mother and daughter, still wounded from a bitter custody dispute, hole up in a run-down apartment building. Adding further drama to their plight, they are targeted by the ghost of former resident.” This film was also inspirational to us because it was based upon a mother who had split up with her husband and because of her daughters school problems they have moved into a new apartment and are facing consequences of someone always taunting them. Another way it helped us was, to get the exact picture we wanted for our own film poster.

WHY WE CHOSE DARK CASTLE ENTERTAINMENT

• The main reason we chose Dark Castle Entertainment to be our production company was because they specialise in the genre of horror and also they are well known in their sub genre of psychological horror films, for example they have released “Unknown” and “Orphan” which made a total of $78,337,373 for the company. Instead of choosing a well known production company like e.g. Warner Bros Entertainment, which produces a varied genre of film, we decided to choose a more complex one. Dark Castle Entertainment doesn’t release too many films a year but they release one or two a year, because of this Dark Castle Entertainment makes more money because people wait for a year to see the finished film, but on top of this, the film gets promoted and advertised on a high scale. I think this fits in really well with our film production because it would mean that our film will be known to be a horror film because Dark Castle Entertainment only releases horror genre film’s. Also Dark Castle Entertainment released the film “Orphan” in 2009, this was an inspirational film for us because it helped us to form a storyline for our own piece of work, this was another reason we chose this particular company.
