What is a media institution?Media institutions are organisations responsible for production, marketing, distribution, or regulation of media texts. Examples of media institutions are; BBC - http://www.bbc.co.uk/ IPC media - http://www.ipcmedia.com/

These media institutions are all examples of successful organisations.In my earlier research into existing music magazines I analysed KERRANG! And Q magazine which are music magazines within the BAUER MEDIA branch. Another magazine I analysed was NME which is part of the IPC Media.

What kind of media institution might distribute your

media products and why? After researching many media institutions I have decided that if my magazine were to be published I would choose Bauer Media. Bauer Media already owns over 80 influential media brands, including Kerrang! and Q. As I analysed these magazines in my earlier magazine research I know that they were influential to the final product of my magazine.

As these magazines Kerrang! and Q prove successful I would hope that having my magazine produced by the same Media Institution would help it gain status. About Bauer;Bauer Media is a German publishing company. Produces 323 magazines.Brands span across tv, radio, online and magazines.Reach over 19 million adults in the UK across multiple media channels.

I think my magazine would fit in at Bauer Media as my magazine is alike existing magazines there. Therefore Bauer know how to distribute and publish music magazines of this type well and hopefully mine would be as successful as these.

As Bauer Media cover a wide range of media channels I think that expanding my product into other media areas would be a given. For example the music magazine Kerrang! (published by Bauer Media) has it’s own magazine, radio station, TV channels, website, music tour and even it’s own awards ceremony.

I have already given my magazine a web address which is displayed on the front cover of my magazine. I imagine as my magazine would begin to circulate I would be able to expand into Music TV channels.
