DEAR REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIAThe 2017/18 BMW IBU World Cup biathlon season has finally reached Oslo, and we warmly welcome you to Holmenkollen.

It was a joy to watch biathlon during the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, where we witnessed many thrilling competitions and impressive achievements. All brought to us with your help!

It is all set for a very exciting week here in Holmenkollen and this year we welcome back the relay, which is a great addition to the program. On Thursday we will have two very exciting sprints, while on Saturday we will see the women’s relay and pursuit for men, and on Sunday we will have the pursuit for women and relay for men.

The World Cup media team is approxi-mately a 25-man strong unit consisting of men and women of all ages, with the sole purpose of offering you the best possible working conditions. During the World Cup we will do our best to accommodate all your professional needs in a swift and cheerful manner.

During the entire week, do not hesitate to contact our staff about any questions or needs you might have!

HOLMENKOLLEN NATIONAL SKI ARENAHolmenkollen is situated in the hillside west of central Oslo, offering a magnificent view of the city. Since 1892, the venue has hosted the annual Holmenkollen Ski Festival, which is part of the World Cup tournaments in ski jumping, cross-country skiing and Nordic combined.

Holmenkollen is also the national venue for biathlon in Norway. The IBU World cup is organized in Holmenkollen every year, and World championships have previously been held here in 1986, 2000 and 2016.The arena was rebuilt and upgraded to host the 2011 FIS Nordic World Champion-ships. Since then, the city of Oslo has further improved the arena to prepare for the IBU World Championships 2016. The upgraded arena has increased both the total audience capacity, the size of the administration building and implemented several technical improvements, making Holmenkollen one of Europe’s most modern and spectacular biathlon venues.

BY PLANEOslo Airport Gardermoen – Oslo City Centre: 50 kmOslo Airport Gardermoen is the main airport in Norway. The airport has direct connections to many destinations world-wide. The high-velocity airport express train runs to/from Oslo airport Gardermoen every 10 minutes, and the journey to Oslo central station takes about 20 minutes. The Media Center is a permanent part of the arena building, and accommodates one large press conference room, combined with work stations for written press, photo-graphers, ENG stations and radio. LOCKERSWe have secure lockers for use by photo-graphers in the Media center. You can obtain a key for a locker at the information desk in the Media center by leaving a deposit of € 20 or NOK 200.

MAIN PHOTO BRIEFINGThe main photo briefing will be held on Thursday 15 March at 10:00 in the Media Center. The main photo briefing is manda-tory for all moving media representatives that will attend the World Cup in Holmen-kollen.

DAILY BRIEFINGSThere will be a photographers briefing held on every competition day, 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to the competition start. The meeting point is in the Media Center.

PHOTOGRAPERS WIFIThere will be a separate closed WIFI net-work for photographers in the arena. For access and password contact the informa-tion desk in the Media Center.

PHOTO BIBSAll photographers who work in the stadium area must wear a photo bib. The bibs and your accreditation card give you access to the photo zones and the Media Center.

There will be two kind of bibs: Regular Bibs and Priority Bibs. Regular Photo Bibs are available at the information desk at the Media Center. Priority Bibs for the whole week will be distributed during the main photo briefing. Priority Bibs are reserved for international and national agencies only and provide its holders with access to the shooting range sideways. To obtain the bib,

you will have to leave a deposit of € 20 or NOK 200.

In addition to the accreditation there will be bibs for ENG crews and the TV teams of the Host Broadcaster filming or using the tracks. For each ENG camera an event sticker must be obtained. Camera stickers and TV and ENG bibs will be ready for collection at the Accreditation Office.

International press conferences will be held in the large press area in the Media Center located next to the mixed zone. Press con-ferences with the podium winners will be held after each competition.

English is the official language during all press conferences. Russian translation is made available for athletes not speaking English.

For non-rights holders, no filming from the official IBU competition areas (race track, warm-up area up to and including the finish area, mixed zone) is permitted in the time window commencing one hour before the beginning of the first competition of the competition day (warm-up, zeroing, etc.) and ending with the press conference of the last competition of the competition day.

No footage from the same areas that was filmed in the same period mentioned above may be distributed on any platforms, including, but not limited to, social media.

Filming and distribution of footage of all other activities and areas around the com-petition is allowed.

Before the press conference, the activities in the finish area / mixed zone (interviews with TV stations etc.) may not be affected under any circumstances.

MEDIA SOCIAL EVENTWELCOME TO A COSY EVENING IN HOLMENKOLLEN ON SATURDAY 17 MARCH.

This year we invite all of you to an informal social event in a lavvu tent located right next to Holmenkollen Arena. This means that you can join in as soon as you are finished with your work!

The event will start at 19:00, but you are free to join the party any time during the night. We will be serving hot dogs and burgers from the grill as well as beer, while a singer/guitarist will entertain us. There will be joint transportation to Oslo City Centre at 23:00. We hope to see you!

WHEN:Saturday 17 March, from 19:00 until the last person leaves!

WHERE: The lavvu located right next to the arena, you can find a map and directions at the Media Center.

REGISTRATION:To participate, please register your name at the information desk at the Media Center. The maximum capacity is 50 people, and we will follow a first come, first served principle for this event.
