Technology with the magazine industry

Printing Press

This is large format printing press. Which can produce a large amount of copies of magazines very quickly. This technology is very up to date in terms of the of the things it can do. This technology is key to the magazine industry as it allows for mass amounts of magazines to be distributed all over the country for sale.

Camera

This is the modern day technology that allows for magazine designers to put pictures and photographs into the magazines which go with the story to make the articles more interesting. This technology also allows for photographs to be put on the cover of the magazine which means for an instant attraction from the target audience of the particular magazine.

ComputerThis piece of common modern day equipment is a computer in which allows for the magazine to be designed and created on. This technology is very common around the world now and technology much like this is improving all the time for efficient magazine design and creation. Software much like what Adobe produce are used to create the magazines as they offer many tools and design equipment for magazine design to be quick and easy for magazine designing professionals. Many magazine designers use Apple products rather than a conventional PC as they are much more well suited to artistic and graphical creation.

InDesign

This computer aided design software is key in order to create a magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread. This technology is useful for magazine creators and me because it allows you to move and position everything you need into the right place. It also allows to create text boxes which can be moved around accordingly. Another interesting feature of InDesign is that it allows you to change everything you want about the text, for example the angle in which it is facing, how close it is to the next letter. InDesign has been very useful for me because it has allowed me to create a magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread which looks very professional and like a genuine product.

Photoshop

Photoshop is a tool used for in particular, the editing of photographs which have been taken, in my case on a DSLR camera. Photoshop is useful for professionals in that they can change slight things in the photographs and create interesting effects with the masthead of the magazine on the front cover. Photoshop was particularly useful for me because I took my photos in the photographic studio therefore I had to change a few things within the photographs. Also photoshop was useful to me in creating a masthead much like you would see on a professional magazine.
