2. Ideas Beforestarting our preliminary task wehad to come up
with a dialoguebetween two characters. The two characters we chose
were a bossand an employee When we were deciding how thecharacters
would look, we had to thinkabout the connotations and denotationsof
their appearances Brian Modi
3. Camera Shots Welearnt about different types ofcamera shot
including a long shot, a wideshot and a close up In our preliminary
task we used a longshot, a wide shot, a close up and a twoshot
Brian Modi A wide shot Long shot
4. Camera Shots Wealso had to think about which shotwould be
appropriate for each part ofthe film We thought a long shot would
beappropriate for a character walkingalong a hall way, into a room

5. Transitions We also learned about different types
oftransitions: Cut when a piece of film is divided and joinedto
another piece Dissolve when one image gradually comes outand
another image (or black screen) graduallycomes in Wipe when black
screen is introduced at oneend of the screen and is drawn across
thescreen until the whole screen is black or tointroduce a new
imageBrian Modi
6. Transitions Shot-reverse-shot when two people arespeaking,
one person speaks on-screen, itcuts to the other actor and then cut
backto the original actor Wehad to think about which
transitionswould be appropriate in our film For example, we could
use a dissolve tosuggest a long time or location Brian Modi
7. Equipment - Camera To record the film we had to useequipment
including a camera We had to mount the camera on a tripodusing a
tripod plate so it can be held still The tripods height could be
increasedand decreased (but not whilst thecamera is on the tripod)

We had to think about the positioning ofthe boom pole to pick up
the sounds wewanted To listen to the video, we had to
plugheadphones into the cameraBrian Modi
