In what ways does your media product use,develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Question 1 The genre of our film is fantasy adventure. We

have use the typical conventions of a fantasy like film adventure in a far land and fighting with weapons and powers that are not real. It is vital that new ideas were introduced to the genre to make our product different from the typical fantasy film (for example we hid his face for the most part in the teaser trailer so no one can identify their hero). We got ideas from ninja assassin (fig 5) and van helsing (fig 6) are ideas were more based upon the lines of Chinese made films like crouch tiger hidden dragon hero etc (fig 4) Although it was crucial that we kept to the original conventions of the genre.

I got an idea of what the teaser trailer should be like from van Helsing teaser trailer (fig 1) could only find it in foreign language but I liked the idea of the flash

I also got inspiration from assassins creed (fig 2, 3)

so in are poster and are film his hood was up to make sure it looked like an assassin.

Our logo fits our brand image because our protagonist is like an assassin who is alone and a wolf was represented because it’s a killer. However we decided to add the e on because we wanted to ave a twist with ours.

Are brand image is maintained across are products because we used colors like black and white through out the ancillary tasks and the film (look at ancillary task on the blog). In are ancillary tasks it shows that we have used dark colours to keep with a dark theme and keep the idea in the audience mind of a ninja type assassin so everyone can picture him

Indepents media institutions might distribute are product but we chose paramount because they have done iron man which is an fantasy action film which is what we were going for. Paramount success with iron man helped us to decide quickly who we anted as are distributor and their history with film successes

Question 3 Are target audiance was teenegers

really because it dosent fall into adult class or children because are film was a fantasy film which if we made a fll fim would be bloody but non realistic so it fell into the catogry of teenagers.

It is a good audiance to target because it fits into their ideals they just turned a teeneger so they wana be a hero and want to go on an adventure

If i was to be honest the closest secondry target audiance would be geeks and by this i mean adults who love comic book heros

We used audiance feedback through out the product by listening to each others advice and other peoples advice within are class.

We have used technologies like: Photoshop: which was very useful in

putting together the pictures fonts and design for the acinllary tasks.

Imovie: to upload the video onto the computer.

Final cut express: to edit the movie and connect the scenes together to make the movie.

It did influance the planing and construction of the scene because we had to edit the film so it made sense and it flowed right.

We tryed to attract the audiance by keeping the hero hidden and we made it fast pased action which kept the audiance intrested

On this I would take the suggestions into considerations and put them into the movie to improve it

Are audience was interested but because of budget cutbacks it would not be classed as an brilliant film one critism on the video is you can see the rope when he gets pulled back and it makes people think differently of it. Also it could be a little more fast paced someone said i did think it was to long and arguably scenes could be shot more better. If i was to do it again I would like to do it in the dark but that would mean a bigger budget.

Question 4 I used Photoshop: Photoshop was easy

because a lot was not new to me I used it last year. I got ideas from the imagine covers of empire 11 i used was this and I wanted to recreate this effect so my character had a wolf instinct but kept it dark so it looks like an assassin you cant see

Final cut express: this was new to me but it took me about 1 whole lesson to get used to it quickly and i did very good with it. I got the film placed it into i movie opened it in final cut and started editing it the only tools I used were the cut tool to separate images and i also added in effects to make the film appeal to the audience.

Hardware used Camera’s still cameras i had already

used but movie cameras i hadnt used yet so this was new to me but easy to pick up

Macs i used last year so they were easy but any computer system is easy for me

Question 4 Blogger was very useful for keeping a log of

what i have done and how i did it. It was useful for planning because outside of college my group was able to put ideas on the website for us all to see and get ideas for the product. However a disadvantage of this was blogger was slow and alot of the time froze because everyone was on it and trying to keep it updated while doing your work is hard. If i had to do it again i would prefer to write a diray of what i di in my lesson time for my media prodject becuse it is easyier and cant frezze and be done out of lesson

Only final cut express gave me problems because it was a new programme to me it was hard for me to understand it. However i got help and understood how to do stuff. If i was to do it again i would like a professional coach maybe to come in so we can improve the tasks in detail. However Photoshop was fine because i used it last year.

conclusion

We created our brand image really well and it worked to our advantage because it set out how we were going to make the film and what colours and ideas we would use. We kept it black because the audience will think an assassin to be wearing black like a ninja and the darkness we used because the idea that assassins have to stay in the dark and hide

Conclusion (2) Overall I think are media products were successful.

Are video was successful because we kept our goals realistic. However if I was to do it again I would like to edit it better and get more shots and set up a room which is more realistic than were we did the training. Are ancillary tasks were good because we kept to the same colours and stayed along the conventions of the genre and what is to be expected by the audience if you have an assassin. I am very proud of the cut down the middle of are magazine which was my idea but if i was to do it again I would like more than 1 down the page.
