SYSTEM APPROACH TO EDUCATIONAL

TECHNOLOGY

The system approach to the design andanalysis of teaching/learning situation is the

VARIOUS STAGES IN SYSTEM APPROACH

Stage-1 Stage consider target populationcharacteristic and topic area.

Stage-2 Estimate relevant existing skills

and knowledge of learners. Stage-3 Formulate Objectives/learning

outcome.

State-4 Select appropriate instructionalmethods.

Stage-5 Operate course or curriculum

Stage-6 Assess & Evaluate

ADVANTAGE OF SYSTEM APPROACH

It provides a framework to build plans forimplementing change for education.

It helps to identify the suitability of the resourcematerial

It helps to assess the resource needs their sourcesand facilities in relation to time & other factors.

Technological advance could be used to attain thedefined goals.

It permits an orderly introduction of componentsdemonstrated to be required for systems success.

Rigidity in plan of action is avoided.

USING THE SYSTEM APPROACH IN PRACTICE

The system approach to course & curriculumdesign is no move than an attempt to use aprocess of logical development and on going

monitoring and evaluation. In implementing the system approach it is

important to appreciate that while the decisions

taken at each stage are always affected byearlier dexisions, may themselves necessitatesome of there earlier decisions being changed.

CONCLUSION

The SA can be used at any time when aepisode of teaching learning of any length isbeing planned. It can be applied to long term

planning for a whole course lasting weeks, mouths or years. It can be applied by a groupof teachers designing or adopting a completecourse as well as by an indurdual teacher

preparing his or her specify course input. Theapproach can also be used for analysing apreirous teaching/learning experience.
