The MEC for Education in KZN, Mr ES Mchunu and the Premier of the Province of KwaZulu-Natal, Dr ZL Mkhize were present at this high-profile event hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education. W inners in the various categories in this Provincial Competition would proceed to compete at the Na- tional Event. A total of 6142 schools and about 10 000 learners from all 12 districts participated in the SASCE. The KZN Philharmonic Or- chestra played to the tune of the soloists and the small en- sembles. The next level of the com- petition will take place at national finals from the 03 to 06 July 2012 at Rhema Church in Randburg . KZN will send 823 learners from 27 schools ac- companied by 52 teachers of the provincial finalists to compete in the national competition. The Com- petition at the National level will take place as fol- lows: Intermediate Phase (Grade 4-6) 03 July 2012 • Senior Phase (Grades 7-9) 04 July 2012 • FET Band (High Schools) 05-06 July • 2012 The soloists and small ensembles will stage a concert on Youth Day 16 June 2012 with the KZN Philharmonic Or- chestra at the Durban City Hall.
