“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality” - Warren Bennis

This best describes the path that Camella CDO has paved for the last 21 years in Cagayan de Oro where it remains to be the industry leader -

making visions into reality, turning dreams into the real thing. It pioneered the development in uptown CDO when no one else believed and dared to conquer a vast

track of grassland and turned it into one of the best residential development in the city. Camella was the first to create a master-planned, themed development named Gran Europa which has become the largest and the most sought after residential address in CDO complemented with its own village center that has a supermarket,

“SHOULD I MARRY HIM JUST BECAUSE I GOT PREGNANT? IS IT BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE A BROKEN FAMILY JUST LIKE WE HAVE?”

at nagkawindang-windang mong buhay. Kayang-kayang ayusin ng DIOS ang nagkanda-buhol-buhol mong buhay only if you allow Him to. Huwag na natin tigasan ng ating puso at mag-alam-alaman pa.

Let Him take over your life! His ways are perfect, His plans for you is good. That’s the best decision you could ever make. So repent and get away from these endless cycles of sin.

WAKE-UPNagkusa ba at nag-alok ng

kasal ang ama ng iyong anak o napilitan lang siya dahil no choice, because you got preg-nant? Consider the circumstance and situation before you make your final decision. You need to be objective and cannot use your emotions to make the decision for you. Madalas ko sabihin sa mga nagpapacounsel sa akin, “Never make a major decision in times of confusion and depres-sion, chances are you will make a wrong one and regret it for the rest of your life.”

GET MARRIED WITH THE RIGHT PERSON

Can you imagine how miser-able your life will be if you married the wrong person? Pasensiya na medyo makulit ako sa issue na ito, you cannot correct a mistake with another mistake. Gusto mo bang mabuhay sa pagsisi? Di ba, may kasabihan nasa huli ang pagsisisi. This is one of the biggest decisions that you will make. and you’ll be spending each day with this person for the rest of your life. Ika nga, no

REPENTRepentance means a change

of heart and mind, resulting to a change in action. Sex outside of marriage is unwise. That is the reason why God discourage us to do it because He consider it as sin. Even if this practice is accepted in our present society, kahit ito na ang uso; live in muna bago kasal at kahit ito ang paki-ramdam mong tama, still, this is wrong in the eyes of God.

If you’re relationship started on the wrong foot then you can be sure that you’ll make a series of wrong choices and mistakes along the way. This will lead you to experience bad consequences.

To save yourself from this endless cycle of wrong moves, repent, and make a u-turn!

It’s never too late to do the right thing.

Repentance is a choice. Start to change the way you think, the way you feel, and it will manifest in your actions.

YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCEDon’t ever think na wala ng

pag-asa na maayos pa ang nagulo

return, no exchange. Having the right love at the wrong time is still wrong. (Di ba, para lang siyang kanta. Lol!)

Ang manggang pinilit mahinog ay maasim. Matutong maghin-tay at magtiis.

There’s a reason and season for everything.

LEARN FROM YOUR MIS-TAKE

Sex should be reserved and preserved for your future spouse; the man/woman whom you will spend the rest of your life with.

Your purity is the best gift you could ever give to your future partner.

If your partner right now is unfaithful, then he’s a ‘wrong person’. (although people change, but i t ’s too

“Camella has always been the dominant player in real es-tate development in CDO and the entire Northern Mindanao . We are known to be maver-icks, the trendsetters, the first in many things and other de-velopers simply follow or worst copy us. But we remain on top

risky). Ano pa kaya ang magig-ing future ninyo?

Be wise, maraming dadaan na ‘wrong person’ sa life mo, make sure that you’ll not fall for the wrong person. So control your heart and don’t let it control you. Be in a relationship with the right person and get married at the right time.

The best way to know the right answer is to connect yourself to the One who never goes wrong, GOD. He knows everything, He knows the number of your hair, and knows what’s best for you. God has faithfully planned your entire life and that includes your love story!

If you will just allow Him to write your love story, you will surely live a life of freedom, happiness, favor, and success. You can live a life with no re-grets and ‘what ifs’. Place your heart in the hands of GOD and He will place it in the hands of man/woman who He believes deserves it.

Only God can use a crooked ruler to draw a straight line, if you would only allow Him to.

The Chameleon

Quotable quotesmovies that aren’t Hollywood blockbusters. One of the films I viewed recently was the French-language Mood Indigo. When the character of Audrey Tautou blurted out that line, boom-pak it made my heart clap!

“Each one of us is unique but we’re being stitched to-gether to form a tapestry - something larger that can’t be understood until we step back to see the whole thing.” - FlashForward (2009)

-Please refer to the Octo-ber 27, 2014 edition of The Chameleon. It’s an awesome fictional narrative about a window washer in Los Angeles.

“Silence is the greatest

AT its prime, Reader’s Digest publishes a monthly regular called Quotable Quotes. It condenses quotes from both prominent and obscure personalities not just from the English-speaking world but also from elsewhere in the planet. That is why Reader’s Digest is known worldwide and its scope is not just limited to Western countries.

I was introduced to Reader’s Digest at a tender young age. My father used to compile them way back before I was born so dur-ing my elementary grade years, I was already exposed browsing back issues of the magazine. I especially like

Life’s Like That, Laughter’s the Best Medicine and Hu-mor in Uniform where an-ecdote contributions from readers portraying a certain typical day are published. Most often, the situations describe are light-hearted and featuring the gay side of life.

By the time I reached high school, I turned my at-tention to Quotable Quotes where inspirational messages from inspirational people are printed out. These quotes may be current or may be historical but at least, they are related to what’s happening in the world that month. So Quotable Quotes for me at the time was already relevant.

Over the years, I have also compiled a few quot-able quotes and I’m gonna disclose some of them to you along with a side explana-tion on why that particular quote has struck me.

“Life is a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan” – Serendipity (2001)

-No extra explanation needed. It’s that inspiring a quote.

“Had I the heaven’s em-broidered cloths,

I would spread the cloths under your feet:

But I, being poor, have only my dreams;

Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.” - W.B.

Yeats -I first stumbled upon

this quote from the movie Equilibrium starring the indefatigable Christian Bale. After intense research, only then did I discover that it was a W.B. Yeats original. I find this inspirational and uplifting for people who are underprivileged in life. It may not be financial in-capacity but also emotional ineptness that is hounding you…this quote is for you.

“If we screw up this mo-ment, we try the next. And if we fail the next, we have our whole lives to make it right.” - Audrey Tautou (Mood Indigo, 2014)

-Sometimes, I watch

passion of all.” – Tom Clancy (Clear and Present Danger, 1989)

-Coming from a techno-thriller author, I could never imagine Tom Clancy writing this on the latter parts of his novel. But he did. Showing his human side after all.

ARIES (March 21 – April 19) - Generally you’re a very sociable person, Aries, and today you aren’t likely to slow down. Invitations to parties, from intimate coffee klatches to big neighborhood bashes, continue to come in. There may be too many to handle, so you might have to turn some of them down. That goes against your nature! You don’t want to miss anything. Pick the most important to you and leave the rest.

TAURUS (April 20 – May 20) - You and other members of your household might suddenly decide to do one more thorough house cleaning, Taurus. Usually this would be a good idea, but today it doesn’t really need it, and you might work too hard and do too much. Do you really need to clean your closets now? Dust and vacuum, then spruce it up with some decorations, and that should be enough for now. Relax!

GEMINI (May 21 – June 21) - Too many people may be making demands on your time right now, Gemini. Some may have genuine concerns and need your assistance, but others have definite agendas that they really should deal with on their own. Use your intuition to tell the difference, because you won’t be able to help them all. A female friend might have the most urgent need. If you can only help one, help her.

CANCER (June 22 – July 22) - A lot of creative work may need to be finished by today, Cancer. If you’re professionally involved with writing, a deadline may loom. It could be difficult to get it done because family members and guests could constantly go in and out and keep you from concentrating. The best course of action might be to go somewhere quiet, like a library, and do your work there. Think about it!

LEO (July 23 – August 22) - What’s happening in your community today that attracts crowds, Leo? A parade? A festival of some kind? Some friends may want you to go with them. You might think you’re too busy, but an hour or two away from your chores certainly won’t hurt. Take some time out. This is a time for having fun! Go if you want to. You could meet some interesting people.

VIRGO (August 23 – September 22) - You may be too free with your money right now, Virgo. You’re usually careful with it, but the spirit of generosity and abundance is definitely upon you. You’re more inclined to be generous with those you care about. After all is said and done, you could panic, but don’t. You’re good at making money. A little belt tightening later is entirely possible, and it won’t hurt you. Follow your heart - within limitations.

LIBRA (September 23 – October 22) - You usually love to talk, Libra, but right now you’ve probably reached your limit. You’ve attended a number of gatherings and talked to a lot of people over the past week or so, and now you want to sit quietly at home. If friends or family members insist on your going out with them, don’t be afraid to say no. Everyone knows how busy you’ve been. Take some time to yourself and relax.

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21) - Have you been indulging in too many goodies, Scorpio? You might feel under the weather because of all this abundance. You probably should take it easy. Think about reorganizing your priorities. Is a second piece of chocolate cake more important than your energy and health? Indulging can be important to your psyche, but don’t forget about moderation - and don’t forget that there are many other ways to indulge.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21) - It has been said that you can never have too many friends, Sagittarius, but today you might wonder if perhaps you do. Your phone could be ringing off the hook. One person after another will be soliciting you for advice and your famous shoulder to cry on. Be patient. One day you may need that person to be there for you. Try to listen and keep your sense of humor about you.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19) - A public gathering of some kind could attract you and your family tonight, Capricorn. Perhaps you will arrange to meet some friends there. You may feel good just being out with those you love, but you’re likely to be tired by the end of the event. Make sure you fortify yourself with nourishing food during the day. Take care of yourself so you can have some fun.

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18) - Too many phone calls and visits may be on the agenda today, Aquarius. You might also have a few last-minute errands to run in your neighborhood. It won’t be easy, probably because of crowds and traffic. Nonetheless, your sense of excitement and enthusiasm will help you tolerate condi-tions that would normally be very frustrating. Furthermore, you’re having fun! Go to it.

PISCES (February 19 – March 20) - You may have lost your usual control of the purse strings and spent too much money lately, Pisces. Don’t worry about it. It’s all been for a good cause. It’s nothing you can’t handle, and certainly not enough to bankrupt you. The situation is only temporary anyway. The financial picture looks great for you in the months to come. Make the most of it!

Volume III, No. 131 Assistant Editor: Mark Francisco October 30, 2014 B4THURSDAY

Twelve new weavers graduated last week as the Department of Tourism (DOT) through the effort of Hudyaka trained

them during a one-week intensive course as part of the group’s advocacy to promote Mindanao silk and other indigenous materials originating from the island.

This, as Hudyaka 2014 opened last Sunday evening at Centrio to much applause from the audience, fashion enthusiasts and everyone con-cerned in promoting Mindanao while models strut featuring the couture and end-products of six designers who band together to use Mindan-ao-sourced fabric in their wares.

The rest of the products will be on con-tinuing display at Centrio activity center until November 8.

Guest of honor Brian Tenorio, world-renowned social entrepreneur-cum-designer, lauded Hudyaka’s efforts in grouping together to pro-

mote the use of native materials for their quality products which are exported mostly to Europe.

“I am inspired by what you are doing. Alam nyo ba, when I was in New York, I showcased a walis-tingting that is made of inverted Christ-mas balls. And the Americans were awestruck. It means that our creativity as Filipinos is much appreciated anywhere in the world. Their value will be quadrupled,” Tenorio said.

Led by the indefatigable designer Martha Rodriguez of Vesti, Hudyaka is also composed of Ann Seblante, Chris Gomez, Joco Commen-dador, Jun Artajo, Nicole Cabanlet and Shiela Damalaerio.

Cabanlet of CDOHandmade.com is show-casing her series of Earthborn

travel journals and notebooks that are 100 percent handmade, tree-free and acid-free. All her products are natural paper materials sourced from Higaonon abaca farm-

ers in Claveria, Misamis Oriental. Earthborn observes a strict code of conduct which includes fair economic practices, quality assurance and environmental consciousness. Earthborn is a finalist of the renowned I Am A Changemaker award of the British Council that provides grants to budding social entrepreneurs.

Gomez of Chromez Home Furnishings presents a series of designs that are more on the juxtaposition of light and space as he makes modern floor lamps using recycled paper into a papier mache on a level that is CDO-inspired. Modern, functional and sophisticated, Chromez is definitely a work of genius as accent pieces to be transported into your lovely homes. Gomez creates each piece with his own hands. His products have already reached Singapore and Germany.

Comendador of Joco Shoes provides an array of footwear designs, ranging from tower-ing platform shoes to sculptural wearable ones. He is currently focusing on avant-garde perky, colorful and experimental styles. Comendador

is part of the Manila FAME Red Box featured artists last March.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez of Vesti has been fascinated with handwoven indigenous fabrics from Mindanao. She built Vesti to showcase the different facets of these handwoven indigenous fabrics from different tribes and communities in Mindanao and turned them into stylish bags. She is also one of the Manila FAME Red Box featured artists last March.

Artajo resonates a very literal yet sophisti-cated interpretation of Mindanao identity. He is one of the most sought after Manila wear designers in Manila FAME. Hailing from Davao City, he joins the Hudyaka designers on putting her trademark prints on Mindanao silk.

And then, Dimalerio’s Shiela Bags is known to be a fusion of classic and timeless chic. With her recent accomplishment to be part of the Manila FAME Red Box last March, she awed the audience with her intricate details and wood manipulation towards bamboo clutches in dif-ferent strokes of color, finishing and beading.
