AIESEC India Member Committee Application 2013-14

Expanding | Empowering | Delivering

My role as Director Expansions for achieving 2015 goal.

My role in 2013-14 will ensure expansion as a operational function is executed with new inventions and centralized medium of communication skills in the national association where local committees initiating to expand into different sectors and market should initiate with structured plans. Also to focus more on making AIESEC accessible into different cities and universities in order to make every member or stakeholders to be part of the global learning environment and gain high quality AIESEC experience while consistently moving towards AIESEC’s and 2015 vision. Talking about 2015 goal statement and our midterm plan, if I brake the statements into few strong words then it directly signifies expansions as a very aggressive and important initiative for AIESEC India towards the goal, words like “our growing physical and virtual reach” , “makes us credible and diverse youth voice” , “collaborative environment” , “positive impact on society”. These words directly or indirectly make it very important for AIESEC to expand and start penetrating into the potential cities and universities. The truth is, On 19th February 1981, AIESEC was officially initiated in India. It has been 31 years since our inception and we only have 19 Local Committees. And this boils down to just one thing that now is the time AIESEC India needs expansions as the one major role which will play for our nation to breakthrough in every market where we need to establish ourselves.

Initiate

• Present in every nationally authorised and recognized university: NIT silchar, Vellore International University, IMT Nagpur, IIT Roorkee, NM Shirpur University, BITS, etc. are the universities present in all the different parts of India and have been completely unknown to AIESEC.

Collaborate

• Planning with Local Committees towards initiating expansions: There is a urgent need of understanding between the MC and LC about how expansions needs to be initiated following the protocols and having the right understanding of expanding to a different entity.

Experience

• Expansion conferences a regular behaviour: Making conferences specifically for expansion entities will be a initiative to make it a regular behaviour. This will make every delegate understand the concepts and “WHY” AIESEC towards our 2015 goals and BHAG statements.

How will I expand AIESEC in India’s network in the coming MC term? Presenting the national Expansion strategy that I will

implement the growth you think it will lead to.

Simple formulae of expanding our AIESEC network in

different sectors is to simply understand the kind of the

experiences which potential universities and institutes

needs from AIESEC. AIESEC India needs to think beyond

delivering experiences, to have a product delivery to an

external organization or to an organization where AIESEC

India is looking forward to expand. We need to

understand as a organization that the reason why we are

expanding our network, what experiences are we capable

of for delivering the expectations and what is the bigger

picture we are looking through expansion as a operational

portfolio.

My learning has been deep and experimented towards

expanding network in the local and regional level which

makes me understand the reason of expanding the

network. Delivering experience is just not the reason of

expanding network but also to make AIESEC more

accessible to more youth individuals who look forward to

an organization like AIESEC and together move towards

2015 goal.

All these 6 above points are the essence of basic processes which AIESEC India will see something which revolves around finding their strengths and connecting it to others and implement what has been framed and give. AIESEC India with a very basic structure in 2013-14 will evolve its whole approach towards expansion in the country. My style is the same as I always look for the central and core, which revolves around these points. With the kinds of ideas and thoughts which MC, parent LC and together with the NSTs and the national head will put down towards every expansion entity then showing a success growth in this operational portfolio will definitely be in place.

My action steps for effective operational training & education to Expansion entities? Provide a plan & timelines for the same here. My initial action steps will be to deliver quality education to every expansion member of AIESEC India. When I say quality I mean updated version of every content we use to educate and train our expansion members. Important contents like videos, AI newsletters, expansion documents and proposals, etc which needs to be used in the most updated version in AIESEC India from this year. Currently AIESEC India is in a stage where operational and education training to the members is more accessible and impactful, it has been made possible from this year by hosting conferences which has hard core sessions on the latest operational activities happening in AIESEC India and network. National Startegic Conference 2012 by YUVA has set a clear benchmark in AIESEC India that conferences is a intense platform for high volume of AIESEC education and knowledge to not just members but also to the leadership body. Similarly, this culture of educating and training members at national/regional conferences specifically and separate for expansion entities will be taken forward in this year as well where sessions and team activities based on delivering knowledge to the expansion entity members. Currently AIESEC India can adopt two ways of education and operational training to the expansion entity members: 1. Virtual Training and education programs. 2. Physical Training and Lead.

After the parent Local committee MC should be the power house of the expansion entity. A member committee’s guidance and services to every entity to a great help

towards the entity and for the parent LC which is also in the loop of doing the same for there own entity. My idea is basically to have a synergy plan between the

entity-parent LC-MC and the MC acts as a power house to the kind of guidance, reseources and help that either the parent LC needs for there own entity or the entity

directly needs resources from the MC. But there has to be some specific things which should cater to a better performance and growth of the entity in a time frame of

12 months. It is very important that MC devotes a quality and effective time and resources in order to bring expansion as a very important and crucial portfolio for

AIESEC India which leads to growth and development of AIESEC as a country entity and also drives down a behaviour for the LCs to take up this portfolio as a priority

and they themselves have separate operations for expansion only.

Proposing investement and engagement service plan of Member Committee of AIESEC India in 2013-14 towards EXPANSIONS

What national services do you think the MC should provide to Expansion entities in the coming MC term? Why?

ELD Program & functions

management

MC to support and strike partnerships in

the international conferences or our

national partner countries to recognize

the initiative groups and our expansion

initiatives. MC to promote CEEDs in the

international network to bring a

international work with the entity

towards a positive change and growth.

External Collaborations-

Endorsements- Referrals MC to provide endorsements and

referrals from national partners & board

members to recognize AIESEC as a

empowered youth organization which

practises internalism and

entrepreneurship for recent graduates

and students in shape of providing a

global platform with 50,000 membership

and international experience.

Governance-Legalization-Finance

MC should ensure that every IG and

OE to be recognized or introduced to

the national association during the

conferences or through our virtual

network. MC to have a separate

finance & investment budget for

entities to grow and develop in order

to contribute AIESEC India.

Organizational Development

MC to create define work

engagement structure & channelize

the network with entity so that MC is

always updated about the regular

operations and functions taking place

in the entity and provide the required

reseources needed like mentorship or

coaching or need based.

How will I make Expansion entities are aligned to national focus areas & programmes. Presenting a plan with details of key action steps and/or initiatives.

BRAND & IM

EXPANDING

NETWORK in INDIA

Education and training in shape about pilot projects by LCs, national

partnerships & campaigns, operational-strategic summits, financial

policicies, compendium, membership criterias, etc should be the

initial step towards alignment with the national focus & programs.

Partnerships with local and external units to have externals to

support that particular entity. Collaborations between national or

regional LCs for exchange management and international LCs too.

To make entity strictly follow the exchange, finance, IM and HR

policies by the entity. Getting right members into right work with

right kind resources with training about mass delivery.

To give special mentorship to core committee and coordinators

about financial management and have operations and functions

with strategies of having sustainability and stability in finance.

Create a brand of AIESEC in every entity which has a unique brand

which symbols young students which practises entrepreneurship and

international programs and have quality reports, newsletters,

promotional materials being promoted regularly.

To continue the mission of expanding the network of AIESEC to

deliver those high quality experience to every young individual

of the country by 2015.

CLUSTER Approach

The most key initiative I want to take forward in my MC term

will be cluster approach towards the expansion entities. It does

not requires a very drastic change but yes a very innovative and

professional way of approaching market specifically when

AIESEC India wants to expand and build its network in the

country in the most sustainable manner possible.

Cluster approach in points below:

Step 1: Divide city entities in 2 clusters and divide university

entities into 3 clusters. AIESEC India will then have 5 clusters in

expansion entities.

Step 2: Cluster 1 will include city entities looking forward to

take all the 4 ELD programs in there city.

Cluster 2 will have all the city entities looking forward for just

being a market expansion to either AIESEC India or parent LC in

the state or near.

Cluster 3 will have universities which is looking forward to

deliver both kinds of programs ICX and OGX.

Cluster 4 will have universities with specialized units for just

specific ELD programs like GIP OGX.

Cluster 5 will have IITs and IIMs where delivering AIESEC

experience needs to be very customized and should be a

initiative taken up by AIESEC India directly.

Provide a sample structure & roles for national support teams that will help you drive Expansion creation & development.

The presented organizational structure for the National team of expansion is

designed considering the cluster approach towards moving ahead with the expansion

from the national team’s side. This team of 6 will basically operate and regulate the

expansion commission overall and manage operations and functions of every entity

indidvidually with the parent LC and its VP Expansions according to the clusters which

they will be divided.

1. NST Head University Entity: To look after for the national partnerships &

mentor the parent LC for driving down operations in the entity in a way where

it can either be created as a specialized units or be a complete ELD functional

entity. Product packing and managing for specific and specialized units like IITs

and IIMs where strong partnerships for OGIP is required.

2. NST Head City Entity: To mainly work with the LC for providing resources to

the expansion entity in order to upgrade them as Member on Probation

within a time frame of 12 months. Strike LC partnerships for exchange growth

and spefic partnerships for specialized units.

3. NST IIMs and IITs: To mainly get in touch with IITs and IIMs already tabbed

like IIT KGP, IIT Delhi, IIT Indore and IIM Indore making them as a unit for us to

guide and help in penetrating into the other targeted IIMs and IITs.

4. NST Specialized Units: Specialized units in universities is mainly identified as a

specialized units for GIP program only. NSTs to ensure that cracking of

national and international partnerships for exchange is in place during peak

times.

5. NST Market or city expansions: To directly monitor the entity from the

national office or through visits and do a health check of the operations and

functions. Majorly to look the OGX market and the possibilities of making the

entity grow with OGX as a priority.

Director and AIESEC Nepal:

To mainly cater to what the NST and Expansion head team is working on to

ensure best possible growth with every entity of AIESEC India. Develop a very

strong channel between Parent LC, Expansion entity, NST team and MC to ensure

communication is very strong between all the parties about Expansion. Regular

visits to AIESEC Nepal for finding space to have more external partnerships with

universities and organizations and expand within the city and country.
