Gardens are put to bed, winter tires are on (or not) and sewing projects are lined up ready for those long indoor days. Maybe you are planning that warm getaway to southern climes, playing golf or pickle ball, and a refreshing swim in the pool. Whatever your winter holds, I’m wishing each of you moments of joy and reflection at the bounty that our lives hold. If you missed our last meeting, Meg Cox gave a great program on ritual in our lives. She has a website megcox.com and check out her blog. We have been asked to participate in a couple upcoming projects, the Honor Flight is asking for 25 quilts from Central Oregon guilds for veterans from Korea and WWII. They will leave from Redmond to visit Wash DC in May. These quilts should be lapsized and in a patriotic color scheme. The other quilt challenge is sponsored by the League of Women Voters in recognition of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage next year. These quilts will be in a special exhibit at the SOQS in 2020. The guild dues will be going up to $45 per year. This is not intended to be a hardship for anyone, and I don’t want to lose any members because of this. There is anonymous assistance available if someone needs it. Contact Jan Durham or Suzanne Martin. And yet another change of venue! For the meeting on January 13th, we will still be at Partners in Care at the same time, 6:45pm. They haven’t begun construction, but BJ’s has! Stay tuned for more changes…… Hope to see everyone at the holiday party, with bells on! Hospitality Jean Bissell Holiday Party Time!  Community  Quilts  Lizbeth  Cattle,  Cathy  Cholick,  Billie  Krutsch,  Diana  Lawlis,  Joyce  Andrew    Thank  you  so  much  to  all  our  amazing,  talented  Community  Quilts  quilters  who  participated  in  our  Community  Quilts  efforts  during  2019!      Your  talents  and  tireless  work  have  resulted  in  a  record  number  of  gorgeous  quilts  during  2019.    We  will  make  our  last  distribution  of  quilts  for  the  year  on  December  10.  Let’s  finish  our  UFO  charity  quilts  to  donate  to  our  many  charities  before  the  holiday  season.  TIPS:  We  discussed  a  few  tips  at  our  recent  meetings:  after  sewing  all  seams  completely,  press  your  quilt  top  on  the  back  then  on  the  front;  check  that  all  seams  are  fully  opened  with  no  tucks  at  the  seam  lines;  and  cut  all  loose  threads  on  the  back  and  front  (especially  those  that  might  show  behind  light  colored  fabrics).        JANUARY  PROJECT:    On  Wednesday,  January  15,  bring  a  pattern  that  uses  fat  quarters.    You  will  select  fat  quarters  from  the  CQ  bins  for  your  Community  Quilt.    We  had  great  fun  at  our  last  FQ  project!        REMINDER:  We  will  NOT  meet  on  two  important  Wednesdays  –  Christmas  and  New  Year’s  Day!    How  disappointing  for  us  not  to  see  our  sewing  friends  for  three  whole  weeks!    In  2020,  everyone  is  always  welcome  to  join  us  on  Wednesdays  for  a  fun  day  of  sewing.    Bring  a  lunch!    Once  your  top  is  finished,  we  provide  batting  and  backing  to  complete  your  project.    Wednesday  meetings  are  at  Nativity  Lutheran  Church  from  11:00  AM  to  2:30  PM  at  60850  Brosterhous  Rd.

BJ’s  Quilt  Basket  20225  Badger  Road,  Bend  541-‐383-‐4310  www.bjsquiltbasket.com    Hello,  Friends!  It  has  been  a  glorious  late  fall  day,  but  I  know  winter  is  right  around  the  corner.  We're  gearing  up  for  our  construction,  quick  holiday  gifts  (check  our  website  for  some  fun  classes),  our  annual  Stuff  My  Stocking  specials,  Block  of  the  Month  and  our  new  Pre-‐Cut  Party.    If  you  haven't  signed  up  for  our  weekly  email  newsletter  or  "liked"  us  on  Facebook,  please  do  as  that's  the  best  way  to  keep  up  to  date  on  all  the  fun  events  we  have  going  on.      As  I  watched  the  sun  go  down  during  my  afternoon  walk  with  the  dogs,  I  reflected  on  our  lovely  Central  Oregon  quilting  community.  We  have  lost  a  few  of  our  beloved  founding  mothers  this  year,  but  we  have  also  made  so  many  wonderful  new  friends  as  our  area  continues  to  attract  creative  and  giving  people.  I  am  grateful  to  all  of  you  for  making  our  community  such  a  vibrant  and  caring  place.  Wishing  all  of  you  the  most  joyous  of  holidays,  Kathy
