LINGS PRIMARY SCHOOL (NN3 8NN)
FOUL WATER ASSESSMENT
The new building contains 18 WCs, 18 WHBs, 1 Cleaner’s Sink, & 8 classroom sinks. This will increase the flows from the site by approximately 4 l/s^.
STORM WATER ASSESSMENT
The new building sits completely on both impermeable and permeable areas and as such will result in an increase of storm run-off from the site. In addition to the new building, it is proposed to extend the car park. The new building will increase the impermeable area by 495m2, whilst the extended car park and access road will increase impermeable areas by a further 639m2. In total the impermeable area is increased by 1,134m2 which equates to a 29l/s* increase in run-off.
FLOODING
The extract below (from EA indicative flood zone maps) shows that the site lies within flood zone 1 and the development site is less than 1 hectare. As such a flood risk assessment is not required.
DRAINAGE STRATEGY
Roof run-off shall be collected in drains running parallel to the building discharging into the existing inspection chamber located in the footpath adjacent to the existing car park.

Run-off from the car park extension will be collected in gullies and connected into the existing
storm drainage system which runs diagonally across the new car park. The additional flow will be restricted to existing flows by the use of a flow control device and attenuation tank.
Foul flows from the new building will be collected at the front of the building. These flows will then discharge into the existing foul drainage network located to the west of the existing building. An indirect connection application will need to be submitted to Anglian Water to include for the additional flows. The drainage strategy for the new building is shown on drawing number MBP5394/510a.
